Question. I started the conditioning training. I did the pole pull ups etc and the side bends. I am sore! and my back is real stiff and sore, is this supposed to happen? I did everything the way she instructed in the video.

I get muscle soreness after training. I guess it just depends on what kind of soreness? if your muscles are achey like how muscles feel after running or lifting weights then that is to be expected. sharp, pinchy, or nervy pain is not normal. these are muscular intense exercises where you are lifting your body weight so sore achey muscles are to be expected somewhat. if your back is sore and stiff because the muscles are tight from working out then that sounds normal but if your back is sore because you have sharp, shooting pains when you move then that is not normal.

Yes, just stiffness etc. I forgot i did controlled knee lifts as well. Ive done them before but was never this sore. I was out of commission for about 7 days due to “Flo”..lol. And just being drained and tired. I guess my muscles got lazy. Think im going to wait another day or so before i do anything else.

I’m glad that someone brought this up….my friend started poling with me, she has never done it before….now I know that being sore is very normal, but she has been complaining about abdominal pain…she says that every time we start doing climbs or crunches, her upper abdomen hurts really bad…should she see a doctor? Or is this normal too? Cause my abs hurt but not as much as she is saying hers does.

when I first started poling I could only do it once or twice a week at most because my muscles would be very sore. it’s good to take a couple of rest days between sessions when you are first starting. Tatiana, I’m not a doctor but it does not sound normal what your friend is feeling. I dont usually feel pain while I am doing a move or trick. I get muscle soreness the next day. I may feel pain from pole contact or bruising on the skin but abdominal pain while climbing or crunches doesnt sound right. she might need to get that checked. it could be a strained muscle or hernia or something.

Thanks Phoenix!! I was thinking the same…I don’t recall being in so much pain when I started pole, I did tell her that she needs to take it easy since she is also working out at the gym. I know pole can be an addiction when you start, but an injury is no laughing matter. I will talk to her tonight and make sure she sees a doctor ASAP!!

Yes, my soreness happens the day after. Especially when i wake up in the am. Ive noticed what helps is drinking Whey Protein no more than 30 minutes after each pole workout. I didnt this time and i can tell. Ive done controlled knee lifts before but this time i really had it and boy….i am SORE! But yes, id have her check with the dr. If im on the pole working out, i am not sore at all. Its afterwards. I havent had soreness like this in awhile, i had got kinda of used to it but i am able to get my knees up higher now and hold it up so i am figuring that is what did it.

Yep, totally normal to be sore after any workout. If have been off the pole for a while try using the 30 day take off program to ease back into pole. It’s designed to help prevent overly sore muscles when starting out. A lot of times people go nuts the first day back on the pole and forget that less can be best when starting. You’ll feel better soon, foam roll and take a hot bath, it wont “cure” soreness but it sure feels nice. 💜
