I just started doing the Studio Veena stretching routines again.  I am a student so it gets a little hectic at the end of every quarter and I can't maintain my exercise as well.  I took a few weeks off and jumped right back into it. I felt a light stretch where Veena said you should feel a light stretch, perhaps I am overdoing it?  How do you know where the point from good stretch to too much is?  I didn't think I was overdoing it, but how sore I am lets me know I was wrong!  Could it have been a combination of stretching and doing the strength routine?

I get sore after a good stretching day, but that is for flexsibility training, not gentle stretching. It could very well be that your body isn't used to strething, so the light stretching is making you sore. I cannot do major stretching two days in a row as I am tighter the next day (but that goes away.)

It's normal to have a little soreness after the first flexibility sessions. But you shouldn't be sore for days after. If you are then you know you have either….stretched too far, or possibly, were not warm enough. I always find the warmer my muscles are the less soreness I experience. I dress in layers when I do my flexibility training. If you've been stretching for a week or more and continue to be sore after then you may be overdoing it.

Also, you could be a bit sore from doing the strength routine too, especially since you had been off the pole for a while. Light stretching can actually help lessen sore muscles from strength training. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Oh also if your sore, try using the foam roller to help relieve stiffness! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Thanks for the info. I'll do the splits lesson again in a few days (about a week from last session) and see if I notice it again.  🙂

Also, for the stretching, the videos say it's okay for once a week, but can I do each routine once a week or should I alternate them?

You can do each one once a week, leaving a day of rest in between them.
