So yesterday I was in my favorite "adult" store – yes, I have a favorite haha. My friends and I go there sometimes; its a large, clean, very nice adult store, not seedy at all, and we know a lot of the staff by now. Anyway, I went in yesterday and saw that they had started selling Peek-a-Boo poles for $200. I asked an employee how long they’d had them, she said about a week. I explained that they are dangerous, people have been injured, and there are much safer removal poles they could be selling. She seemed really annoyed and said "how do I know you don’t work for one of those other companies?" I told her I’m just an enthusiast and I could name more than one company for them to choose from. Still acting really annoyed, she said she’d tell the manager. A few minutes later the manager came over and said that she would call their "toy rep" and ask them about it.

It was kind of hard to say anything as it is (I’m shy!) and I wish the employee hadn’t been so defensive and snappish about the poles… I was just trying to help. Anyway, I hope they will choose to return them and stock a better kind or none at all. I have a bad feeling they might just ignore me though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Well done for speaking up. Even if they ignore you, you know you tried. At least you won’t cringe in guilt anytime you see one being sold because you didn’t speak up.
If you didn’t mind harassing them a bit, Veena has a great article about what to look for in a quality pole. They might consider it biased because she sells x-poles but she advocates for lil mynx and platinum stages too, so that might help dispell that thought.
I was really happy to see the Love Zone near my pole studio selling Lil Mynx instead of the crappy kinds. I’m not sure if it is because our studio owner (who used lil mynx in the studio) has a deal for new students if they want to get their shoes there and so they got the same poles to up potential business. Or what, but either way I was happy to see them carrying a quality pole that won’t hurt people.

Yeah, most places are only concerned with making money and they really don’t care about the quality of the pole. They see that pee a POO is well advertised so they want to sell it. booooo https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif

They consider poles "toys" which is exactly what the peek-a-boo is. A toy for playing around with. Spinning around and shaking your booty for your man to spice things up. It’s not meant for real poling and hopefully people looking to buy a pole for real "poling" will know better.

I ALMOST bought one of those damn things from my local mall because they were selling them for 100 dollars. Then I stopped to think that it has to be too good to be true – a quality pole at that price??? Luckily I researched and avoided wasting money and potentially injuring myself. Those things should come with a giant warning label! What’s sad is I also researched the Electra pole, and they say on their website that customers can spin and invert on those poles yet all the reviews I read said absolutely do not attempt anything other than dancing on the Electra pole.

    Very misleading indeed.

The other day I went into Lovers and i noticed in the corner a little neon hot pink sign saying they sold poles for $440, but I didnt see a pole anywhere so I took it to the desk and asked them about it, they said they sell the same poles as in the strip clubs and need to be special ordered, then said they sold another pole (and she pointed to a peekaboo) and I was thinking, oh no, but then she said, but peekaboo poles arent for holding any body weight (YAY!) I asked if the poles that are like the strip club poles are platinum stages and she looked it up and said yes. I felt so proud of my adult store for being well informed and responsible ^.^
