  • Spinning pole- Powder coat or SS?

    Hey everyone!

So, I'm considering getting a second pole- a Lil Mynx, just like my current pole, because I'll be able to take them down and put them up with ease, since I already have the bracket mounted on the ceiling, and I know what I'm dealing with. But, I'd like a spinning one!

So, this poses the question: Do I go powder coated, or stainless steel? My current, non-rotating pole is stainless, and after it warms up, it's pretty good! I've gotten very used to it, and I enjoy the grip (or challenges of grip) that it offers.

Powder coated, what little I've dealt with, offers MASSIVE grip, at least at first; I don't know how they do after they're warmed up. Cold, however, I stick like nothing else, and that's what I want for a spinning pole.

If I get the stainless, it kind of puts my current pole out of commission, and if I'm honest, I'm kind of attached to it! However, I don't want to get the powder coated and find out that the grip dies once it's warm.

So, does anyone have any insight as to whether powder coated offers the grip I'm looking for?

I say go with the powder coated. That way, your stationary ss one can be used for spins, but the pc will give you extra grips for tricks on the days where the ss just isn't cutting it.

For sure Powder Coat!  I have two friends with SS LM and they like my Powder Coated so much better!  I tried their poles as well and they are slick as heck!

I heard that you can just buy the spinning parts for your existing pole through LM (saves you from buying a whole new pole).  It may be worth checking out!

Chem- that's actually pretty cool! Though, I don't know if it would work for my pole? It's just the replacement parts, so I'm not sure if they'd even be built the same way and just need the coupling and base? Because I know that the top of my pole sure doesn't rotate!

I stick a little too well to powder coat and it causes friction burns that hurt like heck. If I'm on powder coat I am extremely careful about doing spins and will not do any drops. I love how they look though… and they are great if I am practicing moves that are not drops. I do like the extra grip, make climbs and inversions sweet! Especially when the room is cold and I'm just starting out for my session.

Runemist- Contact Randy at LM.  I seem to remember a discussion I think on facebook where someone did this to their original LM.

Chem, I decided to ask about it, anyways. I've decided that, if I could possibly skip the price of a new pole and go for the $15 for the coupling and base… that would be ideal. My stainless steel and i are really getting along right now… so I figure, why not?

Perhaps I'll get a new pole one day 😉
