I’ve been back at the studio for a couple of lessons and I’ve been thinking about poles.

The studio poles are spinny and as far as I’m aware they don’t go static. My pole is a spinny/static pole and I’ve been having it on static.

I was wondering whether it’d be better for me to put it on spinny so I can replicate easier the moves in class- I find my pole a lot harder to do basic moves on such as the front and back hooks (it’s thicker by 12mm) and thought maybe the spinny will help me until I gain a little more strength.

I’ve upped my pole classes to two a week so I’m hoping to gain some better strength.

    What are your opinions?

My studio classes are taught on spinning poles. I would like to have some static classes and I’ve mentioned this to my instructors. I have a static/spin pole too at home and its mostly on static to learn moves. Do what feels best to you. No right or wrong choice. They’re both fun 🙂

what studio are you at? the poles at the studio most likely do swap to static as well. i train pretty exclusively on spinny, but sometimes swap to static…trying to learn the oona spin atm, so that requires a static pole. also if i want to do ckr sit ups at home, i’ll swap to static only because im limited by space, so wont have room if i spin around.

I go to one in Revesby. It’s really nice, I mean I’ve never been anywhere else but really friendly and really encouraging.

I suppose I could ask her if they could switch.

I just changed my home pole to spinny and I think I like it better. My skin seems to rebel at the static pole- that might be because I’m bigger though? I know my knee lock isn’t right but I just can’t manouvre my leg into the correct position. I dunno.
