Hi everyone. I did a search on this but found nothing specific to this question. Has anyone else noticed their shoulders are extra sore after fireman spins or any of it’s variations? My shoulder has not felt like this in a very long time and the only thing different I have done was teach fireman spin and it’s variations. (I never spin on my static pole when I am working out myself only when teaching.) For a long time I thought that I had irritated my shoulder doing the wheel (full bridge some call it) pose. I started doing that pose again months ago and have not had a problem. Through process of elimination I have come to the conclusion that it must be fireman spins (and variations) specifically. Any feedback and personal stories are welcome. I need to know this not only to never let it happen to me again but if these spins are more wearing for some reason then I need to seriously rethink teaching them. Of course there is also the possibility that for whatever reason on this one spin I have bad form that is messing with my shoulder so any feedback is welcome. Thanks.

I have never experienced issues with my shoulders and fireman and let me tell you I have some seriously jacked up shoulders!

When I started pole and only did my right side I had issues with really sore shoulders afterwards. However if I use both sides equal amounts my shoulders are fine , and if I do them more often I get accustomed to the pull.

maybe you just werent using your best form while doing these spins? I find spins to be very hard on my body and I rarely do them.

Phoenix, no doubt on that. For one thing for 5 years I only did spins in one direction, using my left shoulder mostly. And also I because I had been doing the spin for so long before I started teaching I was doing it without the awareness of proper form as I didn’t associate what I was doing at the club with fitness until I walked into Xpose for the first time.

Thanks for your responses, much appreciated.

That’s the reason I came to this site to figure my strained shoulder pain. Its from spiral spin. I cant do it on my left only on my right. I tried to perfect it but over did it. Now I couldn’t do anything for three weeks and my pain is radiating into the middle of my back and my neck with every breath I take. I work with kinesiologist but whatever we are doing hasn’t helped me at all.
Theoretically I know its from not using my core and legs properly at the time.
