So, i’ve pretty much got my spins down on static..When do you get over the feeling that you are going to fly off the pole and across the room up against the wall, on spinny mode? lol

When you learn to use your body to control your momentum…at least that’s when it happened for me. I still can’t do inverted stuff on spinny or I will hurl, but holds and climbing stuff are easy-peasy, even when I forget and launch myself into them. Keep going, you’ll get the hang of it!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have the same problem with spinny mode… I tend to feel like I’m flying way too fast but then on video it doesn’t look so bad. I need to learn not to push off with the same momentum as I would for static. And it’s so hard to get into tricks when you’re fighting the G-forces from spinning. It also has a tendency to make me dizzy. Bah but it’s so pretty! I wanna do it! =P Oh well I’ll just keep working on it.

I’ve tried spinny mode a few times and every single experience ended badly. Either I go flying around the pole so fast that I break the sound barrier or I end up on the floor trying not to upchuck. Englann86, are you saying that it only FEELS fast and it looks good on camera? I might have to video tape it one day to check this out.

Yes, it feels extremely fast but on camera it looks good. You can see an example of this on my Pole Practice 4/27/10 video, because at the very end I do an invert into crucifix to scorpio to gemini and I am spinning pretty fast but it does look good. I was way dizzy after that! (as you can see!) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_compress.gif I didn’t even kick off very much, it only needs just a tiny push to get started. People keep telling me the dizziness will improve if I keep trying it.

Hey, you’re right, that doesn’t look fast on camera at all. And you’ve almost got the aysha too!

I try to end each of my practices with a try at spinny mode. I do the scorpio to gemini, practice the pole sit in spinny (so one day i can get the CAR in spinny) and the back leg hook, and the fireman, but I find that you can’t do spins the same way as on static. My fav in spinny in a very slow reverse pin wheel. Go into it slow with large movement in your legs and it looks really pretty if you can hold it, after about 2 weeks I could hold it long enough to make it look like a trick. I also just try to lift my self up while spinning-on youtube in Rhiannannicole’s vids she does this and makes it look nice, she always goes on spin and it looks great. Watch her vids to get more ideas for spin. She doesn’t do too many spins, and her oldest videos are the best in my opinion. Good Luck!!
