Spray tans and poling…
Posted by Ivy Jade on March 30, 2012 at 10:07 pmSo, my poling buddy, Crystal, got a spran tan machine because she despises her pale skin (which by the way, I think is crazy…she has a gorgeous complexion!). Anyhow, when poled today, she was super slippery and couldn't stick to the pole without serious grip aids, which is unlike her. Does anyone know if spray tans interfere with the body's ability to grip? Thoughts are appreciated! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

lol, I just got one yesterday. I got it to help cover my bruises, though! I had NO issues with my grip….but it could depend on the particular tanning solution that was used?

Dry skin perhaps, since you're supposed to exfoliate before a spray tan? That's strange.
I have been wondering how spray tans affect poling or if poling will mess up a spray tan since summer is coming up and I usually get them… it seems like annoying upkeep combined with pole since you need to exfoliate and moisturize so much to keep it looking good, and there's already such a delicate balance of the perfect amount of skin moisture for grip. I'm also imagining it rubbing off in places I grip often and making me look like a white and orange leopard…

@Kyrelle: hmmmm….I didn’t even think of the exfoliating factor. I will mention that to her.
@Jag: it is good to hear that you don’t experience issues after spray tanning. That gives Crystal hope!
Any other advice?

I got airbrushed professionally and found my skin to be super sticky- everyone I know thy as gotten it done for a comp or photo shoot did too, so it might just be a different formula. I wrote a blog about my experience here, hope it helps! http://aerialamy.com/blog/2011/11/18/airbrush-tans/

I airbrush tanned once and it got really splotchy within a day or two so I just deal with being white 🙂

I love spray tans but only get them for special occasions. I had one a few months back but didnt do pole the whole week i had one because i thought i would be too slippery. Should have it a shot anyway

Every spray tan I've had has made me suuuuuper slippery. I had hoped for sticky because I'd heard that from other polers. But not me. Slippy McSlipperson, that was me with a spray tan. Sucked too, because it looked GREAT. Boo!

spray tans will dry your skin out, so just make sure your skin is kept moist. Pole physics has a lotion that has a self tanner in it. Its a gradual tanner and looks great. Use it for a few nights and the night before you pole and your skin will have a nice glow and good stick. (if you use too much your skin cant absorb it and you might slip a little…)

You ladies are awesome! I love the advice and I will pass it on to my poling buddy! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

there is only about a week out of the year I dont slide….I use pole phyiscs on my legs every night now. Love it.. I still need a little on occassion with that too. I think some people are blessed with moist skin and they could spray tan and not have problem.
