SpringBreak Showcase
Posted by Jenn PoleLush on March 9, 2011 at 11:13 amI had a fantastic time at the showcase and everyone did phenomenol…I am so envious of the flow and confidence of the dancers/performers….I *feel* that confident when I am practicing..like "I got this"…but I cannot even look at my video that my husband recorded. He thinks it is amazing but he is being my supportive husband…which is AWESOME but I know I could have done better. What I keep telling him is I have total confidence in my abilities….I practice non-stop and only perform what I have solid…it's the damn unknown factors of pole dancing that you have no control over..If the pole is slippery and hands are sweaty (which was the case on Sunday) I can only do what requires less hand grip..I dunno, I guess I am just feeling sorry for myself because I came home and practiced and pulled out some sweet moves and I'm like "why couldn't I have done this 12 hours ago?"
I have nailed the SG Aysha, EG Aysha, Caterpillar Crawl Sholder Mount…did I do any of that..nope. Plus nerves made me go blank..anyway..just had to get that off my chest. I am hopefully gonna practice from now until July and kick out something sweet….to a shorter song.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Thanks for listening…gonna go dance to elevate my mood

awwww. I feel bad because I totally missed your performance because it was post mine and I was recovering from my nervousness and suddenly unexpected numb toes. I saw parts of yours but I was hoping you'd post the entire video so I could see the whole thing. I'm hoping to come in July too but I think if it's going to be July 4'Th weekend I might not make it as it's my turn to work the 4'Th at the hospital this year- unless I can find someone to trade my holiday??? (Wishful thinking.) I'm sure your performance was much better than you're giving yourself credit for. We're always our hardest critics. Cheer up Jenn, if anything you can say you were looking smokin' hot in that ensemble you wore! It was such a great experience overall and I'm really glad you came and performed! I think we all walked away from it as a great learning experience with the end result of meeting a lot of amazing people. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

I guess I should look into if I have it off too…lol
No worries, after my performance I had no clue what was going on so don't feel bad. You did spectacular. Don't even look for my vid, won't be posted anytime soon…https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Oh honey you did amazing and you shouldn't feel bad at all!!!! My routine went pretty smoothly but I also forgot a few moves I wanted to include and I only did the "safe" moves that I know I could do in my sleep, I have more complicated tricks in my bag but I was too scared to do them for fear of something going horribly wrong so I feel you on that. I was more nervous about using a 50mm since i have a 45 and my hands sweating than I was about performing! It took a lot of courage just to get up there to begin with and the TG handspring you busted out was amaaaazing! I didn't even know you cut your routine a little short until you said something so I'm sure everyone just thought that was where the routine was supposed to end you played it off very well https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif you can tell you have worked hard for that smokin hot body of yours, youve got 15 years on me and i look like i just gave birth to triplets hehe! everyone has slip ups even the pole pros…remember you are your own worst critic and 99% of the time people don't notice the things you think are really obvious, i guarantee everyone had respect for you for getting up there and doing your thing, keep rockin that pole girlfriend!

I HAVE to interrupt here. Jenn, I seen your performance here and it was excellent. In fact, when your dance was being shown I even made a comment in chat about how much I liked your style. It really was very good and very clear that you practise a lot. Don't feel bad, feel proud 🙂

Jumping on the Jenn bandwagon because you rocked it and I don't want to hear otherwise!!!! I have horrendous anxiety, even leaving the house to run simple errands can be a huge hurdle and to see all the girls get up there and do their thing – it almost brought tears to my eyes!! I couldn't even build up the nerve to make a trip to Columbus, let alone PERFORM!!! You have mad respect from me for sure.

You did great sweetie, its about having fun anyway! and I second the we are our own worst critics. I hate watching video of myself because I KNOW I can dance better then any performance I have ever done. in most of them I screw up basic inverts which I can do in my sleep. Heck in Jamaica I didn't even TRY to invert because I knew in my mind I'd mess it up. My point being we all know we can do better and we all get off the stage and go now why didn't I do move a,b and c?????
I hope to come up in July, I miss having time with other polers!

Wow…thank you ladies for the HUgE support..maybe I’ll be able to get the nerve to watch it. It just didn’t *feel* right…and I am a bit of a perfectionist. I needed that…on the bright side …totally working on my July performance…redirecting my energy! Love this community…and this support is why:)

can't wait to see your July performance, I know you will rock it!

My god woman! I missed the Spring Break performances but if yours was ANYTHING like the videos you've posted on here, you should be extremely proud of yourself!
A lot of us newbies would kill for that skill 😉
I'm sure it was beautiful!

Jenn – first of all I love you, I loved your performance. You were great.
I've got sweaty hands too and the poles were slippery that's why I didn't bust out crazy advanced tricks either. We all know what you can do but what you showed us was how you put it together in a cohesive movement- you were fabulous! I loved every second of it – you were so extending and taking advantage of your lines – you're beautiful inside and out and so was you performance.

Don't feel bad at ALL! You did great! I can understand how you feel. I know my first time performing I did not do very difficult tricks. Its better to use solid moves that you feel comfortable with then bust out something where you could sip. Now you know what the conditions could be like and you'll be more prepared next time!!! Or you could just do what I did…break your foot and not use the pole at all. LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Once again…thank you ladies..you are the most inspiring and uplifting group. Never been part of such a fabulous community of women before…it’s awesome

Oh, Jen you were amazing! I second what everyone else said! I was freaked out about the stage poles before I even got to town (Veena can attest to this) and even thought about pulling out! But I just took V's advice and left out new moves I'd planned for safer ones when I realized there were slippery spots on the pole. Once I realized that everyone was freaked out to some extent or another I just thought "screw it" and decided to lose myself in the music and I didn't fall or anything and I had FUN! That's the point of it and I'm SO glad I got to meet you and see you live because I thought you KILLED it!!!! XO
I will SO be there in July and I hope you will be too!!!
