Squeeky pole? ceiling?
Posted by muffin85 on March 25, 2011 at 1:33 pmI have a 45mm Xsport pole that is only about 9 months old. It is one of the newer models, and i have it set up "top loading" vs "bottom loading." Lately it has been making a TERRIBLE squeeking/creaking noise whenever i pole. Has anybody ever had this problem, or even heard of someone having this problem? And I'm not ENTIRELY sure its the pole itself and not the floor or ceiling, but there is a 50mm pole set up about 6 feet away and it doesn't make a sound. Any suggestions?

My 50mm does the same thing. Usually when I take it down and set it back up, it stops for a while but right now.. it's back to it. No idea 🙁

The pole is probably over tightened. I would take it down, make sure your x joints are all tight – Then put it up again. Make sure once you level the pole you don't over tighten it.
I hope this helps!

My pole also makes a creaky sound. It's a X pole sport. How do you know if it's 'over tightened' or not when you're putting it up? It didn't used to make this noise, it sounds like it's coming from the top of the pole or the ceiling.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!!
It happened last week and I tightened a bit and it stopped, but now it's creaking like mad. I loosed the whole pole until I could take it down (but didn't) and then retightened and it kept creaking. It's the celiing area 🙁
Does this mean I'm not fully on a joist? It's driving me mad cause it makes this sound when I'm just walking around. It's like super angry!

You should only be tightening the pole to the point where you can jerk on it and it doesn't budge. Alight the pole to the x's on the base, then you are done. No more, no less.

x's on the base? I have an x-pole sport… not sure it has that 😡

On the x pert you have to align xs. Not sure about the sport pole.

I was wondering if anyone has actually figured this one out? I purchased an X-Pole sport for my boyfriends apartment about two weeks ago. The pole and/or the ceiling have been making squeaking noses, and I’ve been fairly concerned about it affecting the ceiling, or worse the safety of the pole. I looked the problem up on Studio Venna and found this forum and a few others, but didn’t find a definite answer. So I tried trouble shooting….. I tried setting it up several times. The last time I tightened it firmly, but not as tightly as I normally do. I read on this forum that this may be the problem. I personally DO NOT recommend this. It did help with the sound and was stable for about a week, but today after 15 minutes of walking around the pole and just a few spins it started slipping around on the ceiling slightly!!! :/ I was even being vigilant about checking and adjusting the the tightness of the pole before and after every pole session, putting weight on it and doing test spins. Luckily I caught this before it could cause any damage or injury to me or anyone else. But it made it very hard to take down as I couldn’t get a lot of leverage, as it wasn’t stable. I feel this could be a dangerous situation if someone lives alone and had this problem. I had to recruit my boyfriend and he had to hold the pole with a rubber terminate, to keep it still, so I could undo it.
As far as trouble shooting I’ve tried: making it tighter, looser, and putting it in different places in the apartment, and triple checking the stud locations with a high end stud finder. This is not my first pole either, so I don’t think that finding a stud or the tension level was the problem. I have never had problems with my other pole in the past. (I own a Platinum Stages multi-peice pole as well). After reading the other posts, I’m wondering if it’s has something to do with the sport’s design, because when was looking I didn’t see that others were having the same problem with other models. I am considering bringing over my Platinum Stages pole and trying it, but don’t have a case for it, so I don’t like to transporting it if I don’t have to. If anyone has anymore insight on this topic I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Mine did the same thing. Eventually we loosened it up and the noise stopped.

I tried putting it up again, more loosely than normal. It again it helped the noise, but slipped after just a while. I don’t know what’s going on with it. 🙁

Mine slipped all the time too! Look at my pictures under my profile and look at the celing dome i took a picture of. We ended up scrwing through the dome straight into the joist. Hasnt slipped again, even with my 21 year old son swining full blast on it.

Mine is a 50mm, titanium gold x-pole sport in titanium gold and it’s not the newest model with the longer x joints, but the model before that. (IDK if they have model numbers.) I have it bottom loading currently. I’m actually considering investing in a different pole, and selling this one, because I’d rather spend my time poling then trouble shooting.
