I have both, ss and chrome (and TG and brass too) in my studio. You can hardly see a difference in ss and chrome, just the ss seems to have a slightly blue shade compared to chrome wehn you look at both.
I don’t think there is much of a difference in grip, I just find that the ss spreads temperature a litte (!) more even (wich is nice). Of course it’s more durable, since the chrome is only a layer, but if you know there will never be people touching your pole with fingerr rings, you can save the extra $$ for the ss and get a chrome pole. -
Ok awesome, thank you 🙂 the chrome is hardly used second hand for $300 and the ss is new for $461.92. Though I do like the idea of the ss not being a layer and more durable with the kids jumping on it with zippers in their clothes and such, but when I read about the ss being hard to grip I was worried and thought maybe the chrome.

Hey Ladies,
So just to update: The SS X-Pert Pole is High polish Stainless Steel- mirror finish. Chrome also has a high polish mirror finish. It is honestly almost impossible to tell them apart when you have them side by side.
Some people notice a big difference just when you grip them with your hand. Others do not- and this is largely due to the two main contributing factors with grip:
-weather/climate/humidity
-Body chemistry (oily, sweaty, dry skin)Some people prefer chrome and some people prefer stainless.
So please understand you cannot really say that (Blank) is more grippy than (blank)
It always comes down to personal preference and body chemistry!!
We have even had customers who feel that stainless is more grippy than Brass!!Apart from Brass, which is a porous metal, and materials like silicone, or even the powdercoated poles, it is almost impossible to say the chrome or TG is more sticky than stainless or vice versa.
What is true tried and tested is that usually the brushed finish is nearly always way more slippery than a high polish (shiny) finish. This all has to do with the polishing process.
Otherwise its really subjective to the individual! (and weather, of course!)
On a humid day, you might have a hard time gripping to anything at all.
