Stainless steal vs T – Gold?
Posted by Meg Smith on December 24, 2013 at 1:08 pmI have a crappy stainless steal pole and im upgrading to an x-pole. My question is what the grip of the t- gold like compared to stainless steal? I find my stainless steal on a tad slippy if cold but generally ok so i dont have ‘grip issues’ Whats your guess i would get on with t-gold?
merry xmas and happy new year 🙂(I have torn hamstring at the mo so on a bit of a downer – nothing like a new pole to cheer yourself up 😀 )

I am thinking of getting a t-gold too and wondered what it was like

I really liked tg. However I now have a brass x-pole and love it!! I had issues with during the Vegas summers due to sweat, but brass is better (not perfect) but better when sweaty. This new brass is great! So it’s something to think about.

I tried a brass xpert last week and didn’t really find it much different to a chrome :/

Was it the new brass or older mat finish brass? Also were you warmed up, with any pole you’ll find the best grip when you are very warm. The most consistent finish for me is the SV pole. Something else you could try is using Dew point and mighty grip together. It works best on PC and Brass, chrome still gets slick after a bit, but the grip aids together do make the chrome pole more useable! I haven’t gotten out my Stainless steel pole to try it but I bet it would work great on it too!

It was a new brass one. I found it slightly pinchy on my legs but no different to a chrome for my hands

Would love a sv pole heard so many great grip story’s….. BUT im in the UK 🙁 Brass is a bit out my price range at the mo. As long as it is equal or more grip then my stainless steal i think i would be ok. Was going to get a chrome but non in stock that why i gave the t-gold and thought as brass is bit out my budget. xxx

TG has more grip when cold, for most people, than stainless, but for me, neither work with sweat as well as brass. Depending on what you are looking for in a pole will depend on your finish needs. For me, my body works just fine on stainless and TG, but my hands, oh boy to they slid off.

btw, I hate chrome. It is slicker than stainless for me. My stainless, cold, has better grip than my chrome, for me. It’s weird cuz others swear they like chrome better. If it’s between chrome and TG, I vote TG.

Body chemistry is different for everyone & preferences too, but I love my TG. Its a little slicker in the cold than summer, but not frustratingly so. It probably has some to do with a killer hand lotion I made for winter cracked skin, but I got a new iron for steam cleaning. Thanks for that tip, by the way, Veena.

I really struggle with grip on my TG during the Canadian winter… however that’s likely due to living in an older home where my pole room cannot heat up well. I give the pole a quick blow-dry and warm up then it is good to go. Hand grip works fine if you have sort of sweaty palms, but my body grip is tricky. I will slide a bit in the winter still with leg hangs, for example, but it is not impossible. Stainless steel I would slide right off. TG is about “as good as it gets” I find in winter!

If you guys are having issues with grip in the cold try this, it’s worked on every pole finish! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgvvc2uvcFw&list=LLup79MtZnWP_SCAHeVlmzdQ&feature=mh_lolz
