I just got one a couple of weeks ago.  Now I've been an X-Pole girl for a while (but I'm still very much a beginner), but I recently moved into a place with 14 ft. ceilings and had to find another option.  I was torn between the X-Stage Lite and the SSA but decided to take a chance on the SSA because it had a larger space to dance on, and was closer to the floor which was made it easier (and safer) to transition between the stage and floor.  I was also concerned about the noisiness of the X-Stage, walking on metal plates, and the clicking noises people have reported after a lot of use.

I have mine set up in my living room right now (with the extension).  I put mine on top of 4 Gold's Gym Puzzle Mat pieces, to help protect my wood floors and dampen any noise.  It was very quick and easy to put together, but the pie pieces can be an issue, especially fitting the last piece.  There's a little bit of space in between two of the pieces, and it's not a flawless fit, but it's okay.  I don't think it will trip me or catch a heel.

I've only had a chance to play around on it briefly, but I was shocked at how sturdy it was  After seeing the vids of people making it lift and tip, I was worried.  I'm not a small girl (currently 176 lbs) and I wasn't able to move the base at all, even being aggressive.  I'm not sure if the puzzle mats are helping that in any way…  Also when walking around the edge, the pie pieces do not flip up, like in that review video…..

Yes the pole does move, but more so at the top, and it will do that because it's freestanding.  To me, it doesn't appear to wobble any more than the X-Stage, but I haven't been on one personally.

I do wonder how the pie pieces will hold up. I chose the white, and it looks pretty in my place, but I wonder if they will turn yellow.

I will admit that I think X-Pole is a much better and more professionally run company, and that the X-Stage is better made, but IMO, the SSA is more practical.

Please note: X-Pole are always listening to our customers and continually improving our product in production.

The X-Stage floor plates no longer making any ‘clicking noises’ when walked on. Felt Pads on the frame legs were included into production since the end of last year.

Anyone who has an older stage can purchase small thin felt pads from a hardware store and add them to on the upper surface at the end of the frame legs. This will stop the 'clicking' sound.

Also to stiffen free standing X-Stages even further the competition pole tubes can now be used with an adapter to replace the existing pole pieces. This gives a very stiff, 7’6” (2.3m) Dual Lined first piece of pole which could be used on its own or, to which extensions –  can be added up to 10' (3.05m). Using the competition pole gives a far more rigid feel to the pole with significantly less flex. X-Stage is the only stage to offer this stiffer option.

Please contact your local agent if you have any questions on stage heights or use, as so much development going on at X-Pole we very often will have a new part or product design which will resolve your problem but we have not released to market as yet.

I'll share my pole opinions: Pros and Cons of each again, my opnions. Love X-Pole tension mount poles. Just ordered a 40mm to play with and X-Pole was very helpful to me last Summer when I had an order snafu.  Where you have that option I prefer those. If you have the ability to weight down an X-Stage Lite, not sure how they did it in a competition and only had one or two of the leg extensions sticking out, it was sturdy and I liked that a lot. I don't know exactly what was used, but likely a weighted bag or weights. I don't like the metal stage, is what it is. I did play on an older version of SSA and really liked the base for home use and  it was easier to both put together and take down. Prefer the height of the x-pole stage lite.

I very recently decided to get a stage pole and I went with PS SSA in this case.  What the other person found is true, my pieces didn't fit together either. I was worried about customer service after reading the reviews as well. I took pictures of the issue. It was the base, not the pie pieces. One of the rods on the base was welded at the wrong angle that made the last pie piece impossible to seat.  I was very well taken care of.  I did have to call as just sending an email was not answered. BUT the young lady who helped me was fantastic.  She had a replacement base shipped to me and both people I worked with at Platinum Stages were very customer service oriented and helpful.  The pieces still fit a bit too tight but they fit and it's fun to use. Yes it wobbles, I notice it less, however.  I love the idea that X-Pole has a sturdier pole option and I would have considered that.  The leg extensions on the X-pole stage light are just something I don't want to deal with and I like the feel of the SSA under my bare feet and with shoes.  So I went with PS SSA.

You won't go wrong with either.

As for your wondering how the XSL was weighted down, we used standard weight lifting plates.  The XSL just had the weights whereas the original they used bags of quick crete. I was the one who helped get the weights in and under the stages so I kinda know for sure this is what was used in Michigan.  They were mostly I think 25 lb weights but there were a few 50s too.

I use an SSA pole frequently.

    The good:

    – The finish! PS stainless finish is really wonderful and my favorite of any finish I have tried.
    – Easy locking mechanism with just the pin, and there's no slip cover to get in the way like with the tension mounted PS poles. You could lock/unlock the pole during a performance if you wanted, it's that easy.
    – Wider dance area than an X-Stage, and it's really low to the ground and doesn't have the spokes. Seamless for floorwork.
    – SUPER simple/quick assembly. I have to pack this thing into my compact car a lot and it fits without issue, and I can get it down and packed into the car or unpacked and back up in 10 minutes by myself. All of the pieces are really light except the base.

    The bad:

    – I'm a small girl, about 105-110 lbs, and I manage to lift the base off the ground pretty frequently. Not a ton, just enough to make a thud, but I have seen heavier people/guys or inexperienced people (you know, the kind who take the run and leap onto the pole approach to spinning or climbing lol) do some things with it that made me nervous and I've seen it lift and tip considerably in those cases.
    –  Some of the pie pieces do wobble if you walk along the edges. It's not that bad, it doesn't affect my balance or anything, just makes a sound.
    – Pole does wobble, but I don't notice it much. I don't think it's any worse than a standard x-stage but I have heard some people say otherwise.

I do like the SSA a lot overall but I do feel X-Stages are generally sturdier… but it depends on what you are using it for and what you look for in a pole. 🙂

I had the chance to play on a ssa last weekend (with extension 3m high) and I must say that I like the XStage much better.
The ssa wasn’t spinning smoothly but rather in an ellipsis and it was much more wobbly than the XStage, especially on top! I didn’t want to do any inverted stuff on spin mode.

Panther thing I disliked was the extension: it was just a little bit smaller in diameter so you could feel the intersection. Also, the edges weren’t as smooth as Xpole’s.

What I did like though was the platform. Much more quiet! And the option to add light sticks (was the white one) is really cool!
