    Hello,

I am currently working on the starfish and am having trouble letting go with my hands. I can get my feet into position on the pole but I'm all bent over becasue im still holding on with my hands! What do I do next!?

I saw that bertysbooboo  can do the starfish so you might want to ask her how she does it.

I take Chinese pole lessons from time to time, and I've had the instructor show me the starfish.  Unfortunately, there isn't much trick to it, it just takes a *lot* of outer thigh (abductor) strength.  It also isn't a move that's meant to be done on a dance pole, but rather on a rubber-coated Chinese pole, with shoes on.  If you're going to try at home, it's best to practice with the bottom foot at the base of the pole, and just try to let go one hand at a time while keeping your legs from sliding together.  Good luck!

I haven't tried this move yet but here are some clips of others:

Sometimes watching clips of try and fails helps me figure out a move if I can't find a tutorial.

Also if you still need help after everyone responds to this thread with their tips maybe you can try a session with skittles who I've seen teach online via webcam:
