Static Pole
Posted by DarlingNikki on May 17, 2012 at 12:16 amI finally got my pole up and when I use the static option it won't stay completely still. It will move slightly either way. How cam I fix this?

Mine does this too. I'm not sure what pole you have, but I've got a 40mm chrome xpert pole and from what I have gathered it seems to be caused by the bottom 2 hex screws that control whether the pole is on static or spinning. When I first tighten them the pole is completely still but then as soon as I do a spin it goes back to moving slightly from side to side. I've tightened the hex screws so tight they've dug into the metal and scratched it but it will not stop happening. I'm guessing that maybe its because the hex screws are smaller than the alloted 'space' they have available to them, so they can slide from side to side on that bald patch between the threading (if that makes sense) But yeah sorry, if that is your problem too I never worked out how to fix it. I just ignore it. 😛

Tali Kat I have the 50mm chrome xpert pole. Yeah, I was too scared to keep tightening them 🙂 I guess ignoring it will have to do for now, or just keep it on spin pole. I was worried that my base was the problem and maybe I had to get a new one. I still had fun though tonight https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Hopefully someone else will have a suggestion we can try. I've been using my pole for about 5 months now and it's never fallen down and when I take it apart and look at the joints, nothing seems to have been damaged (except where I can see the aforementioned scratches from my over-tighening the hex screws) So yeah hopefully it's ok to just ignore it. That's what I plan to do if no one knows how to fix it 😛

I think from what we have gathered, this seems to be a common problem amongst X-Pert X-Poles.
I have a 45mm Chrome since Aug 2010 and right from the get-go I also noticed this issue.
I don’t think there is anything you can do.
When it happens, I generally tighten the two smaller hex screws below near the base where the spin lock is located, and it’s also dug into the metal rod of the base.
I think this is normal.
It will still shift slightly side-to-side.I always leave my pole on spin now, simply because this is what I’m used to and want to perfect on. =]

Make sure after you have it up the hex screws are aligned in the grooves of the threaded section. This seems to be the #1 thing that people miss in the directions. Mine has a very slight wobble just because the base part is made to move a little to compensate for uneven floors.

It helps to remember to use the same method with the spin/static hex screws as you do with the joints and go back and forth. Sometimes just tightening one then the other doesn’t get it all the way. If it’s still loosening right away on you, sometimes they really slather on the lube and it can make it easy to unstick. So you can try completely unscrewing the hex screws, then just very gently pinch it between a paper towel with your fingers and lightly twist to remove excess and it might grab a little better.
But yes mine (an original xpole) does wiggle a little bit on static. It doesn’t HURT anything and once you are used to it you genuinely won’t notice.

I had this happen with my x pert. Unscrew the adjuster cover and you will see two screw under there. Tighten thsoe SUPER tight (the hex key should flex.) That should stop the wiggling.

@sensualscimitar – I haven't heard that suggestion, I think I'll give it a shot. Thanks 😀

On the video to help you set up the pole it says to never touch those 2 screws https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif That scared me so I just never thought of that.

Mine does it too. I need to make it stop cuz when it does it, it causes the x-joint to rotate (yes it is tightened equally and fully) to one side. on the bright side this forces me to do left handed stuff to shift it back into place.

You don't want to unscrew them, but they will loosen a bit on their own, so you need to tightnen them periodically.
