Straight edge split
Posted by Andrea on January 13, 2009 at 8:37 pmI was attempting the straight edge split today and I just can’t seem to grip the pole where I feel comfortable enough to let go with my legs. Does anyone have any tips or advice for learning this trick. Thanks! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_fish.gif

By split do you mean legs in straddle?
I found the key to this one is a high caterpillar into it, that was when it suddenly clocked for me at least. Have a competent spotter for this one

Hello, if you feel comfortable with your grip on the pole in the caterpillar, maybe keeping your hips close to the pole, and trying to extend one leg out while the other is still around the pole might give you a feel for it, hopefully that will help you. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

well i tried again tonight (straight edge split) am still a long way away, but am getting more comfortable unwrapping legs from pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif will just keep workling on it i won’t even attempt regular straight edge yet https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif tried superman got closer than in past, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif but still can’t flip myself into it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif handspring i think am going to need an instructor to help me learn https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif chopper am so frustrated at this point am not even trying for a little while (dont understand how 1 day can hold the position like no big deal, than for weeks after can’t hold it for more than a second ) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif
couldn’t do the half handspring into butterfly ( i usually can) have gotten alot more comfortable with gemini (never used to really feel secure) and pike (sitting straight legged inverted on pole w/ no hands) also really feel good about bow & arrow tried reverse aysha was able to reach pole this time and let go with legs, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif but still needs alot of work https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif
