hey all, I did my “Day 19” training yesterday followed by side splits stretching routine and then back mobility stretching routine and I obviously overdid it because I have a strained neck muscle today. 🙁
I’ve taken a voltarin (anti inflammatory) for the pain which is around the back of my neck running down to my traps. If I try to bend my head back I get that sharp pain and I have just a general ache in the area.
I spoke to my pharmacist when I was picking up my meds and he said it sounds like a strained muscle, so I will use my heat pack as well.
    Should I just rest?
I hate doing nothing when I’m feeling motivated because it doesn’t last, so I have to take advantage of it while it’s there if you KWIM.
But I suspect doing any pole work will pull on the area if I climb or spin etc.
Any advice for an old gal who should remember she isn’t 25 any more?

if its a strained neck muscle, you will probably be fine in a few days rest. until then work on splits and twerking!!!! 🙂 I wouldnt do much pole stuff cause even climbing the pole will fire up those trap muscles and irritate it. but you can shake your booty and stretch your legs. nows a good time to practice things like booty isolations, splits, you can do most of Veena’s leg extension workout (thats not the name of it, I think its “lower body”. anyways, that video is good for working on your leg lines and extension for dance. if you have a hoop, bust that thing out and move them hips as long as it doesnt hurt your neck. you will probably be okay in a few days if its just a minor strain. 🙂 alternate heat and ice and take your anti-inflammatory and post your booty, hoop videos. haha!!! 🙂

I gotta say, the booty shake has eluded me completely so far- I can get the backs of my legs to relax but my bum will not do it.
I can tighten each side of my bum when standing or seated, so I know how to engage my glutes, but have no idea how to disengage them :p
I did the side splits routine yesterday- I was really pleased at how flexible I am in some areas (like the frog stretch etc) so might try the middle splits today.
And I’ve roped a friend who is handy with building stuff to make me some parallettes like these so I can work on obtaining an L-sit
But yeah, I won’t be doing any pole work today because the right side of my neck and traps feels pretty crappy, even with voltarin and a heat pack.

Nice ! Love those parallettes!!! Now you might have to time to figure out how to disengage them booty cheeks. Haha! It is definitely a challenge but gets easier the more you practice . If you can engage them then that’s half of it. Some find that part very challenging but you can already do that part. At first you have to really concentrate and eventually you do t even have to think about it 🙂

Rest for today, but chances are you’ll be fine tomorrow. 🙂
