So I just got back from vacation and had a fabulous time, but I was so disappointed because I never managed to get any street poling pictures in! I kept looking for decent places to do it but was afraid of doing any moves over concrete for fear if my hands slipped that I'd bash my head in. My boyfriend and I stayed at a resort on a beautiful lake with a park nearby with a nice playground and everything, so one day I went down there to take pictures of the scenery and hunt around for a good spot to pole, and all the sign posts that would allow me to do moves over grass were these weird square poles that were too thick for me to grip properly. So I started to look at alternatives, and my attention quickly turned to the numerous trees surrounding us. Most of them were too thick, but I found one that I thought would work, handed my camera to my boyfriend so he could catch me in action, and went running up to it. Well, as soon as we got closer I realized that the trunk was wider than it had looked from a distance; my boyfriend warned me several times that my hands wouldn't be able to fit around it, which I pretty much agreed with, so what did I do? Tried to pull myself up anyway, realized halfway into my invert that yes, I wouldn't be able to hold the invert properly because the trunk was indeed much too big for my hands, so I had to cautiously slide down holding on for dear life so I wouldn't conk my head on the ground. Got two nasty gouges/scrapes down my side in the process, and spent the rest of our time in the park running around frantically trying to find a tree thin enough for me to pose on, with my boyfriend behind me yelling "Jenn–Jenn, don't. Get off the tree. That one's too big too; you're going to hurt yourself again."

LMAO–he probably felt like he was babysitting a two year old. He had to keep re-directing me away from every lamp post/ sign post/tree/any other vaguely pole shaped object that we passed. What are some of your funny/crazy/weird street poling stories?

Totally understand the goal of "street" poling.  My story:  May 11-13 last week hubby and I spent at Disneyland/Calif Adv in Anaheim, CA.  From the planning, my goal was to street pole.  During the walk between hotel and the park every day I could not find anything decent.  While at Disneyland/CA Adv I looked and looked, would go to pole, post, etc feeling for size/grip, etc. My husband asked "If you find one, what are you going to do?"  I didn't know LOL

Finally, while in line for the Submarine ride, there were umbrella poles with the chains to mark the lines to the ride.  They were perfect grip.  Now I had to decide if I could get away with a basic something, there were a lot of people and staff was very big on safety; throughout the park we'd see children being told to stop climbing rails, rocks, etc.

After passing 3 umbrella poles I told my husband to walk slowly in the line so I could get to the pole and he'd have some space to take the picture.  I took a chance on being told "Hey, get off that pole!"   The people behind him had looks like why isn't he moving up!  But I pulled up and he took the picture!   I got to the pole but only felt comforable doing a pole hold.

Even though I'd hoped to do something somewhere, NEVER thought it'd actually be at Disneyland.  Even though it was a basic pole hold, I remember when I couldn't even do that!  And that it was at Disneyland, even better!!  I posted the picture here on sv 🙂

    You'll get one soon!

I’m from Fullerton, Ca which is 5 minutes from Disneyland and I’ve never found a decent pole 🙁

I actually worked at Disneyland and did realize certain poles that would be awesome… But could you imagine a cast member, in costume climbing up a pole?!? Yea, wouldn’t look too good! 😀
