Studio Owners! Where did you buy your poles?
Hello! I own a studio in nashville and I need to purchase poles (static and spin) and I wanted to know where you all ordered yours?

The first question for you is about your studio’s needs. Does your space require you to go for removable poles, or can you install permanently mounted poles?
My studio is used for several purposes, so we opted for removable poles. We ordered multi-piece removable poles from Platinum Stages and have been extremely disappointed with the quality of both the poles and their customer service. If you opt for removable, I would suggest sticking with x-pole; and I think that sentiment will be echoed by others here.
If you are interested in permanently mounted poles, you have several options open to you. I know several options for permanent poles that have worked for others. However, as I have never installed a permanent pole myself, I can’t give a recommendation from experience.
You also need an idea of finishes. Do you want brass, chrome, or stainless? Do you want 45mm, 50mm, or a mix? (my studio uses both)

Removable poles aren’t just the tension-mount poles such as Xpole. Depending on your ceiling and the height of it, you can put up a permanent top mount on the joist and install a Lil Mynx pole. This pole can be taken down quickly and the space is cleared for other uses. Warning: often the floor will get scratched! Also, the stainless steel Lil Mynx pole is very slippery and the powder-coated one gets scratched fairly easily. To be honest, it’s my least favorite pole, but I just wanted to tell you that there is another option out there as well.

My studio had this guy make semi permanent poles for them that are permanent at the top of the poles. Not as good as the xpoles though but they work just fine and are cheaper.

I originally used Platinum Stages but also had issues with quality and service so we installed X-poles. We had a handyman permanently mount the top plates in the rafters of our drop-ceilings to make them more secure and it’s been a breeze taking them up and down as needed.

We had ours custom made by a company that sells metal tubes and they can also transform them into dance poles by adding a foot and a top dome. They are 50mm stainless steel one-piece poles and they’re fully removable because we can’t have them up when we’re not using the room.
I think it would be a good idea to get your poles custom made if you need a lot of them in your studio. Like, X-poles are awesome because you can adjust the height if you move them somewhere else but I guess you’re not going to move your studio very often https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif One-piece poles are also a lot easier to put up and you don’t have to spend extra money on extensions. And I’m sure they would work out a lot cheaper as well and you can choose your finish. I’m having a pole custom made for myself, I chose brass but I could have got steel with chrome coating or electronically polished steel and it would still be under £100.

our studio has permanent brass static and spin which we ordered from http://www.poledanzer.com. reason we chose them is for their service. they custom make the poles, and are just great with customer service. the guy there isn’t a particularly smooth sales-type guy, but he makes the poles and knows his stuff. he was just terrific with service.

The studio I go to also has Platinum Stages and has had nothing but problems (one of her poles actually broke in half….yeah, you heard me right). It took her over 4 months for customer service to do anything about it and they were rude during the entire process.

It’s funny I have been to studio’s that used PS, Lil Mynx and X…everyone has their preference but it seems that all of the poles at the studio do better when they are permanent poles vs removable or multi piece…

Broke in half!!!! Wow – That’s terrible! The only problem I’ve ever had with them, is that they cut one of my poles too long! They were really good about taking care of the problem though. In my studio I use the permanently mounted static/spin (both 45mm and 50mm) poles and haven’t had any problems with them. I also use a Star Stand Alone for our "outings" ~ It’s ‘okay’, I’m not 100% satisfied with it. I totally agree with verucablue, permanent poles are the best/safest way to go for a studio! I suppose whichever company you decide to go through for your poles, you’ll find a complaint or two!

I will say that it was over a year ago that this happened. There have been other issues and I know of others that have had problems. Some people get lucky.
