5 days ago I had a showcase and ended up with a subluxated rib. Sometimes, even when you do all the right things $*#t can happen. I knew by the end of the night something was really wrong. For those who want to know what it feels like- it is a sudden sharp pain . My pain was on my back and side area. It is near impossible to take deep breaths, cough, or just move in general. I waited 5 days to see if it would resolve itself because this happened last year and it healed very quickly. It stayed consistent so I saw a chiropractor today. I felt a lot of relief as soon as he did the adjustment . As a few hours have gone by it feels even better. The muscles are still really sore which is to be expected. I’m hoping I didn’t actually tear or strain muscles because that will take a couple of months to heal . Chiropractors seems to think it may just be spasms. I hope so. Anyways, I’m taking it easy till I’m better no matter how long it takes. I’ve been through worse bodily damage so a couple of months is nothing in the grand scheme of things. I’ve been through an injury that left me very disabled for a year and a half- it helps me to keep perspective. Just wanted to share in case others feel these symptoms from piling. Also wanted others who are healing from an injury to realize this time healing is just a drop in a bucket compared to your life. For now , I will go back to knitting and quilting until I can gradually work my way back to physical activity. Don’t let injury wreck your mind . Pole will always be there, it is not going anywhere .

Oh lady I feel you on the ribs. And you are so right, pole will always be there. But the body never leaves. We can always nurture her through other activities like you said. I feel pain and Injuries are the only way my body can get my attention, this far. Sensation is how the body talks. You are a wise soul. Thanks for sharing. And much healing to you.

Thank you for your kind words ladies. I will just live vicariously through all of you until I can pole again. I’m really re-evaluating new goals for the new year. Im thinking I really want to focus more on freestyling and dancing through whole songs. I think I also need to get a new pole, a permanent mounted one. I have a stage pole at home and it really holds me back from freestyling at home because I just cant transition onto the floor. so at home I really only do tricks. If I got a permanent mounted pole it would give me a little bit of floor space to work with and I love floor work. my ceiling is about 12 ft high and it is a slanted celiing. I need to check if xpole has something that work for me. ughhhhh!!! I dread getting up on a ladder and installing that thing. will have to find someone to help me. stage pole really mentally holds me back from dancing at home. yes, I know it is possible- but for me it holds me back. at the studio, I love dancing and freestyling. these are all things I can think about while Im healing. thank you ladies!! 🙂

Oh and you can get a valued mount and they sell these sturdy competition level joints that make the pole more durable for higher ceilings. At least that is what I had been told before.

Thanks Veena! yes, My first instinct was to have a meltdown because I wont be able to pole but I’ve learned its just better to accept it and move on. the less you fight life the better. yes I love knitting! I’ve been a knitter for years but haven’t done much since I started pole. haha! time to finish some of those old projects hanging around. yep, I will have to talk to xpole and see what they recommend. this might be a good change with me getting a permanent pole in my room.

So sorry to hear this! 🙁 I feel you!
5 months ago I injured my left wrist ligament from doing a drop on aerial hoop. When it happened, I also instantly knew something wasn’t right and was in immense pain.
Visited my chiro and told me to take a rest for at least a month, no any strenuous exercise or even movement that involved hands. Even after a month, I still cautiously starting taking up pole/aerials because I still feel pain every now and then, so didn’t push it. Fortunately, now it’s fully healed.
Yes, you are very right in taking time off to let it fully heal! Nothing is more important than listening to your body. All the others like pole can wait, this is so true!
I wish you a full and speedy recovery, and looking forward to see your vids again by then!

You poor thing! I feel for you. Yes, rib injuries are no joke – they hurt like a bitch. When I injured mine, I thankfully didn’t feel any residual effects once it healed. It took a solid 2 months, but after that – I felt fine. Hopefully that gives you some consolation?

Thanks ladies! It’s feeling better and better since I went to the chiropractor and had him adjust it. Before the adjustment it was just getting worse. I’m hoping now that it’s back in place I will be able to gradually ease back into physical activity after another week of rest. Might try easing back with some fast walking on the treadmill.
