    Hi Everyone,

I've been poling for a long time and all of a sudden this past week I can't stick to the pole to save my life. I'm slipping out of moves I've been doing for almost half a year that I had great grip with. The weather is a bit hotter not colder. No matter how much alcohol I wipe the pole with and even put on my skin it's not working both my skin and the pole feel slippery. I have Itac2 but I don't like using grip unless I'm having trouble learning a new move. I try to practise for over an hour and a half and it doesn't get better 🙁 Has this ever happened to anyone else and did your grip just come back or what did you do?

PS I have the removable top loading platinum stage super pole multi piece  so I think it's made from stainless steel.

    Hey

I'm having the exact same problem recently, even though it is warm, i can't stick to the pole aswel as i'm used to. I get this from time to time, i don't know why! I tried washing it with different things but it made no difference!

That used to happen to me with my old ss. When the humidity went up!
Having the air conditioner on seemed to help a bit!

Thanks for your responses https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif. I'm glad to hear it's an on and off thing. (Hopefully off very soon) At least hearing that it's normal helps to stay encouraged.

Blondebird I feel the frustration, It is sooo annoying! I think I was getting pole rage from this lol I get up super early in the morning so I can fit in time to practise just to slide down to the floor over and over.

Alesha, I'm hoping it's the humidity, I don't know what else it could be but that's the only thing that has changed.

I have not experienced this much lately but even when I had my powder coated lil mynx I had days when everything seemed to put me on the ground, and that is supposed to be one of the more grippy poles!  One thing I remember Pantera saying when I took a workshop with her is that when you travel and compete or perform you NEVER know what conditions the room and pole are going to be.  Try to work on getting that grip, no matter what.  It will make you a better poler in the end.  It may be just tightening that muscle a little more or tightening that grip.  Try to work through it, as frustrating as it may be!

I go through periods of this and I find it's usually associated with too much poling, my muscles are too tired.  Maybe you've been poling a lot lately?

ALSO, make sure your points of contact are not dry…Be sure to be using lotion – just not when you pole.  I abandoned all lotion use when I first started poling and found that was a bad idea – my skin got so dry I couldn't pole sit.

Chemgoddess I took your advice and tried to suck it up and just pole but luckily my stick is starting to come back so Yay!

Charley I'm pretty moisturized. In the beginning of poling I did the same thing you mentioned about avoiding lotion and learning that dried out skin makes things worse. I have been poling a lot in the last month though and wonder if that played a part in all of this since reading your comment. Maybe I pushed a bit too much because I was on a good roll learning a bunch of new moves.

In any case I'm so glad to have this site thanks for your input  guys it's much appreciated 🙂
