Try an anti-histamine, like Dayquil or Sudafed.
My hubby used to have a problem with this every time he was on a plane and would pop an anti-histamine to clear things up.
Hope it clears up soon…plugged ears is no fun! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Not sure about your ears, but a neti pot could help your nose. And try boiling water and pouring it in a bowl and placing your head over the bowl with a towel over your head and breath deeply. If you don’t have a neti pot just put luke warm water in a cup with about 1/2 teaspoon salt and sniff up your nose to clear your sinuses.

Anything other than meds….Sudafed really makes me feel odd and I try to avoid taking it. I have heard of the neti pot have not tried it though. My nose isn’t very stuffy hmmm wonder if it would help clear things though….. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I always have trouble with my ears as I have allergies all year round and all those tubes are connected. The doctor told me to put a little bit of mineral oil in my ears before I went to her for a procedure to have them drained, however, I found that when I did that I got an excellent bit of relief from doing this on it’s own.
Warm a little bit of mineral oil before getting some help dropping it into your ears.
I find my aim is hard enough when my ears aren’t clogged, but if you want to post a funny vid online….film yourself doing this while your ears are clogged. lol.
A neti pot might help depending on the nature of the condition.
If the oil doesn’t work for you….check this out:

I use a Neti pot. I found it at the drug store. It washes your sinuses and helps clear away infections. Which should help whatever is in your ears to drain out. It was a LIFESAVER while I was pregnant since i couldn’t take meds. It’s a little kettle in which you put lukewarm water in with some salt and then pour it up one nostril and let it drain down the other. http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=1024&bih=472&q=neti+pot&gbv=2&aq=0&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=neti&gs_rfai=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I hope this link works. Shows what the neti pot looks like and does…I use the one from nasa flo

lavendar or eucalyptus oil in ears
Saline spray or neti pot, it got there thru nasal passages, warm salty water might draw it outAnd Sudafed, it will open your Eustachian tubes … you’ll feel weird, but if that congestion gets infected … you’ll really have problems … if this doesn’t solve it, see MD for labyrinthitis

Ok thank you all so much https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I have sudafed so I’ll start with that…..then move on the the neti pot…my midwifes also suggested this for me when I was pregnant but I didn’t have the guts to try it. I just stayed miserable lol
I had used spin mode 2 days ago https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_compress.gif …. then later that day I started to feel all contested and my ears got all weird….I wonder if spin mode set it off? because I’m not sick or anything? Anyone know? I would be curious…..

Veena…I was totally freaked about trying the Neti pot but got desperate last year and finally gave it a shot. It’s not nearly as horrible as it sounds. Not sure if it will help with your ears but it’s worth a try.
Another thing to consider if nothing else is working is you may have wax build up – especially if you use q-tips in your ears to clean them. Even if you don’t, that may be the cause. The warm oil may help that but if not, see a doctor as you may need your ears flushed or it may get worse or infected.

My husband is having the same problem right now. I thought he had an ear infection bc his throat has been bothering him too. When I had an ear infection, I was using a syringe to rinse my ear with water. Since my ear was already sensitive, this created my ear drum to rupture. I ended up going to a CVS minute clinic. They gave me cipro ear drops which helped clear it up.

Hey V,I’m curious, are you having any other symptoms?I know you said you’d get dizzy and that your ears feel blocked. Is it itching or any drainage?Do you hear "swishing or other noises in your ear?You said you get dizzy, does it worsen when you change positions?Any difficulty swallowing, hoarseness, neck pain,or pain when you open you mouth?Have you recently had a head cold or problem with your eyes, mouth, teeth, jaws, sinuses,or throat.Disorders in these areasmay refer pain to the ear along the cranial nerves. So that’s what my guide to signs and symptoms is asking. And then it lists over 18 different medical causes depending on the symptoms so let me know and I’ll look them up..xoxo

Hey veena,
All the suggestions so far have been great, I agree on sudafed and a tiny drop of olive oil in the ear. Things to avoid are using cotton buds in the ear (you’ll only cause them to become blocked even more by pushing the wax further into your ear), using any kind of syringe in the ear (leave that to a doctor if needs be) etc. I’ve had problems with my ears since forever and I very regularly get blocked up so I really sympathise, it’s a horrible feeling. I’ve had 6 operations in my ears since I was a kid because they are unable to clear themselves of the fluid that builds up in there and even now I get lots of infections from the scarring inside. One thing that helps for me when I feel my ears blocking up is to use a few little drops of olive oil at night (to avoid messing up your pillow, make a plug out of cotton wool and seal it on the outer ear with a film of vaseline. Otherwise the oil will drip out and won’t stay in long enough to soften the wax.I often have to go to the hospital to have that suction thing done because syringing doesn’t always work so if the symptoms last much longer do consider having it checked out. The longer it stays blocked up the higher the chance of it becoming infected is. And nobody wants an ear infection!
I hope you feel better soon, start taking the sudafed and hopefully by tomorrow you’ll be feeling much better.

No I don’t have any other symptoms…I have had this before mostly when I was younger and had started figure skating again…in my early 20s. So that is why I wonder if the cold weather and spin mode work my have brought it on? My whole family has sensitive sinuses so thinks like the cold weather will irritate them.
I don’t have any earwax either and dislike sticking Qtips in them but keep them clean so idk https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif …my husband would die without Qtips for his ears https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
Chris and I have a date tonight so I hope it clears up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_compress.gif

Onions in socks. I know it sounds silly, but fry some onions in a pan (until they are cooked), and then place them into socks (clean ones) and place them over your ears. It heals them wonderfully (make sure they aren’t too hot so you burn yourself). This comes from my neighbour who’s a homeopathic doc…
Also you could buy some ear candles…you just light them and they clear up the ears too.but trust me on the onions!

I have that happen when my sinuses act up, I get fluid trapped behind the tympanic membrane and that always requires an anti biotic to clear up the fluid and to prevent infection from being trapped (I never had pain with it). See if the sudafed works..if it doesn’t help in 24 hours you may need an anti biotic….sorry not much help. *HUGZ*
