I finally got Superman! Its been my nemesis (among others – ask azriel) for a LONG time and I finally got it tonight!! I literally jumped up and down squealing with delight in the middle of class! I did it about 7 times after that and eventually my tutor told me to give myself a rest. But I was just so excited!!! Ive been trying for months to get this and just couldnt. In the end I was doing something so simple wrong and my tutor pointed it out and then bam I got it!!!
PLUS – I got Knee Hold! Only one handed knee hold mind you so Im not jumping up and down about that one yet!!! I have the positioning right and my hips forward but not quite confident enough to let go the 2nd hand. Pretty chuffed about that though and I’ll work on it!!!

I’ve beeing trying the superman for the past 3 weeks and am just not getting it. Man does it hurt. If you don’t mind me asking what was the thing that your instructor pointed out that you were doing wrong that helped you get it.

Looks hard!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif For me with the Superman it was always that last little switch around that was the problem!! Thats what my teacher helped me with. Not having an advanced class must be a pain in the ass but thats where the pole jams will be especially good for you cause you can get all the great people here to help you out!! jeng: My lower arm (for me its my left) wasnt low enough on the pole for me to be able to turn my body around, it was getting in my way. She got me to do an Apprentice (or Star Fish as its sometimes called) first to get my arm position right. I did that a couple of times. She also said that I needed to turn my body a little faster so I did and it worked. Congratulations! That’s really awesome. What a challenging move. A while back, I tried to learn it but got so discouraged that I had to forget about it. I’ll get back to it one day! But I want to see your’s and get inspired!
