I’m trying to get into the superman pose starting from the ground, but I keep getting stuck in the same position and not able to go any further. Here is a picture of where I get stuck, any pointers or tips on my body position or how to get past this point would be much appreciated 🙂

I think you need to start in like a press up type position. I tried once but as soon as I tried to put on hand behind to grab the pole, you get the full pole burn on thighs and I bailed it! Lol

Bottom hand needs to be MUCH lower. Also top hand lower. This brings your body into a slightly inverted position, meaning that you hang away from the top hand and use the top of your left leg to lean away from, and your right leg can completely let go of the pole while you turn over.

    Thanks for the responses 🙂
I’ll keep this in mind next time, this move has been driving me crazy ^_^

I agree with Robyn about the arms. I always make sure my top hand is close to my knee (and necessarily the bottom hand moves lower). Otherwise, my top arm is stretched to the max before I can shift my butt around the pole.

I can’t do it at all [takes notes]. Applause to everyone who nails it despite the pain. Does the pain ever get better? (Have loose skin inner thighs after weight loss and it literally rips, ow)

Loads of people hate it (including myself). The pain only gets better if you keep doing it consistently. If you take a break the pain will soon come back again. It does also for other tricks but this one is particular. So in some sense it doesn’t really get much better 🙁

To me, the pain when learning the move (and flipping into it slowly) was awful. But once I got the hang of flipping faster, it got much better for me. And I personally think it’s infinitely better than the pain I have doing Allegra.

I posted this a while back–several Veeners found it helpful. Maybe you’ll pick up a tip or two. 🙂

Make sure your hips are square to the floor before you put the second leg on. If not you rip your thighs rotating rhem. As some who refused to do superman because I hated rhe pain, I now live in rhis move. Yes it gets better

I do my superman wierd so it might not help I do it from a shoulder mount but keep my legs straight then I just reach up behind me with one hand and stretch the other one out. Its not as pretty to get in that way but it is less painful

As mentioned in other responses, lower your hands. Your top hand should be approx 2 inches from that knee and your bottom hand almost at the bottom of the pole. Make sure the pole is up really high on that bottom leg…almost in the leg crease. Bring your top leg’s knee into your chest as you use your bottom leg to press forward and flip your hips. Hope this helps some 🙂

Very helpful responses as usual 🙂 I changed my hand position and it really did make a huge difference, I was able to flip all the way around. Now for the fun task of trying to hold it properly while my thighs are on fire ^_^

Others have given you great tips. I just want to add from my experience the pain does get better and go away once you get it. I was in HORRIBLE HORRIBLE pain when learning it, I mean HORRIBLE lol I would work on it, then take a break for a while, then start again, etc. My husband laughs when I get into it different ways now and has said “you do it like nothing now compared to long time ago” So hang in there. And as mentioned, once this is accomplished and no more pain, the next move comes along and pain issue can start all over for THAT trick. A cylce, that in my opinion, is worth it. Hang in there and enjoy the journey 🙂
