OMG! So this is the weirdest thing EVER!!!!! As I have explained to a number of you before, I am going to some medication changes that are affecting my body in very weird ways. So I have always been a very sweaty girl. The slightest bit of exercise would get me sweating, and intense exercise would get me pouring. Needles to say, I've always had a towel handy to wipe down the pole, and I've always had grip issues with my hands. No grip aid would help. They came off in 2 minutes.

So now I am on a new medication and now I have the OPPOSITE problem. I am not sweating! My face is sweating a little, but my body and hands are totally dry! The hand part is cool cuz I don't have to wipe the pole, but my body needs a little moisture to stick to the pole! Now I slide right off! I can't stick at all! Is my only option grip aids? I was hoping to avoid grip aids…Maybe a salt water spritz????

I use “Corn Huskers” moisturizer( which I was reminded about by another girl on here), anyway it’s the best solution I have found. It is glycerin based, not oil based. I got it CVS.

    Hope that helps ya some!

Ok thanks. I will go see if I can find some here. Does it make you sticky or what? how does it work?

Yes, it can make you sticky. I put some on right before poling….bad idea. I could almost run up to the pole, jump on it and stick to it handsfree. I was pretty bruised the next day,Haha…but I did learn to never apply right before a workout.

Just give a while to absorb. They say wait 6hrs or so for lotion, I can put this stuff on 2hrs prior and be fine. everybody’s different, though…just give a try and see what works best for you:)

Haha! It's called topamax. It use it for epilepsy, but some people use it for migraines or weight control off label. It has been humorously dubbed "dopamax" due to the fact that the primary side effect people get is slowed cognitive function. <—-I can attest to that one! It does all kinds of weird things to me. It makes me break out in acne (go figure…)

Pole Physics has done wonders for my dry skin. PP at night then dewpoint 15 minutes before poling

I hate to bring up this thread again, but I feel so frustrated, and I feel like I am the only one in the world who has this problem! I DO NOT SWEAT on my body during pole practice, therefore I have no natural pole grip anymore, and squeezing only does so much. Anyone else suffer this???

I ahve very dry skin, it has been an issue for me with pole since day 1 of poling.

I like to use corn huskers lotion right before poling all over my legs and hands.

Do you use any of the other grip aides? I put and i tac on, but when I slide down the pole, it leaves a film of grip aid and dead skin on my pole (ew!)

i tac doesn't work for me..it gets slippery. Pole Physics (dont use too much, and use it the night before) has been my savor and . (red bottle, dont use too much of that either) I also have to make sure my skin and pole is very warm. sometimes I stand in front of the heater even. I also clean my pole acetone on occasion, and when I need extra grip I wipe "dry hands" on the pole. I like mighty grip for my hands when I get tired cause I sweat a little more and it stays sticky for that.

I love and even use it on my hands. I like I-tac as well, but have to be careful as sometimes it makes my hands too tacky. I like pole physics, but I use it about 30 minutes before poling, if I use it the night before my skin is still too dry the next day. and yes all this stuff builds up on the pole in some manner or another so cleaning them off is good.

I don't think my hands have EVER in all my years of poling sweat, even in Jamaica. In the winter they despite putting lotion on many times a day are so dry they crack and bleed. My legs are stupidly ashy.

I have to echo the sentiments of everyone else here.  I get really dry legs in the winter but have really sweaty hands (sucky combination) and last winter I was so frustrated – I could not even demonstrate a pole sit in class.  I bought Pole Physics from ETED and it worked like a charm.  I can put it on just a couple of hours before class and be sticky.  Corn huskers is great for instant grip and doesn't rub off on the pole.   if you use too much will come off on the pole – so have to let it dry pretty good before getting up there, i-tac I like in small doses and never my hands because it turns into a slick but I put a bit between the thighs and knee pits and it works great – you also wanna give that aminute to dry too.
