    Hey guys!

I’m currently finishing a 4 week Level 2 course tonight at the only studio in my city. I’ve quickly fallen head over heels for pole and have been going to classes once a week for 2 months now. I don’t have a pole at home and only being able to practice once a week is driving me crazy! My studio has open pole a few days a week but they charge per class on top of the levels package I pay for which is fine. We are just starting to learn pole climbs and we start dancing in heels tonight.

I’ve stumbled upon another studio that is about 15 minutes outside of the city. I spoke with the owner and I would be able to enroll in the level 4 classes that start next week and she would catch me up on anything I don’t know. The levels classes are the same price at both studios but at the new one I would have access to unlimited classes at the studio, including, pole conditioning, pole flow, pole flexibility, spinny pole, as well as several other dance classes for an extra $75/month.

I’m torn because my current class needs 4 people to continue to the next level and I’m number 4. But I’ve become very addicted to pole and want to advance and eventually take the X Pole certification training! (the new studio is hosting the training at the end of Jan)

So all of that to ask
1- do you think my current class is moving at a good rate?

2-is the new studio a better deal and would you skip a level?

3- or should I just not go to classes, save the money and buy a pole and follow Veenas lessons here?

    And finally,

4-is it way to soon for me to be considering becoming an instructor? And is The end of January to soon to take the course? (I’m already a women’s personal trainer and pole has given me so much confidence in my own skin it’s amazing and I want to share that with others!)

I’m so sorry that was long! Didn’t know who else to ask since no one I know understands pole.

Well, It seems that you are well on your way and have great goals that you are striving for. I’m not a trainer or pole teacher, so this is just my opinion…

Being that you are already a personal trainer, I imagine you are strong already. I think as long as you can execute the moves, have a good foundation of body mechanics and can convey that to other people of ALL levels SAFELY then you might be prepared for the teacher course… It’s hard to say without actually knowing personally.

I have been to classes and cringed when instructors have wanted students to jump into inverts when they weren’t ready… You will more than likely come across women who are overweight and have no exercise experience AT ALL in their lives (like me when I started) and it might take them a whole lot longer to progress… I think it’s important to know this going in and that instructors be able to work with students who are very diverse when it comes to their strength level…

As far as your classes, it wouldn’t hurt to use Veena lessons and go to your classes. You can never learn too much when it comes to being an instructor.. I think instructors are always learning and never stop doing so…
Good luck =) I hope i helped some, but I’m sure some successful instructors here will chime in and give wonderful advice.

Azblanco – thank you! I tend to have a loyalty issue when it comes to leaving things. But I know I have to make the decisions that will get me to my goals but I don’t want to let anyone down in the process. But all I want to do is pole in my downtime so I really need to get my own pole quickly because although gas prices are dropping, driving 40 miles every other day to and from class would get pricy pretty quickly lol

My pleasure. Well I o ly stsrted pole by doing the pole position course. It was something i needed to do to get my youthful level of fitness back and to add variety for my clients (some turned pole addicts)! I have a gymnastics backroumd and 25 years as a certified group fitness and personal trainer so I only seek in depth and highest standards of instruction. I started pole 3 yrs ago. Did PoleMoves advanced 2012 and Master Training last year. Our coursees are at http://www.polefitnessalliance.wildapricot

veenas breakdowns of tricks are very good! Once you study some physics and biomechanics of it all…it will all make sense!
