    Hi everyone,

I'm new here and loving the awesome pole community. I just wanted to gauge pole dancers' interest in this technique called EFT ('Emotional Freedom Technique', also known as 'Tapping'), which involves tapping specific accupressure points on the face and body, in order to neutralize stressful/negative feelings and memories.

Being a pole dancer myself, I've had to get over a tonne of fears and limiting beliefs about myself and acrobatics in general. I always thought of myself as too weak, not athletic enough, not possessing the ideal body of a pole dancer etc. Even though I was making progress, I felt like there was so much more I could do but my self-imposed limiting beliefs were slowing my progress.

This technique called 'EFT' helped me a lot with this… I was already making a bit of progress without it, but after discovering EFT, my strength, confidence and belief in myself has increased… and my stress levels have markedly gone down (And it's not placebo either… Harvard university did a study on the same accupressure points that EFT/Tapping uses:
    http://thetappingsolution.com/science-and-research.php)

Because EFT helped me so much, I wanted to help others using this same technique, particularly pole dancers and aerial acrobats.

So I just wanted to know how many of you would pay for such a service? I would be so grateful for any replies, it's the first time I'm trying to run my own business… I have a mission that I really believe in, which is to get more women into pole and enable them to have confidence and strength- and I am just trying to gauge interest to see if people really feel a need for something like this.

If you are particularly struggling with anything in pole dancing then please let me know too, so I can see if I can come up with a solution for it to help! 🙂

Thanks so much, your replies are much appreciated! X

I have used this technique in the past dealing with some sexual abuse in my child hood. It really helped a lot…strange as it may sound. Haven’t thought about using it for pole, but It’s a possibility! How are you thinking you would do treatments? Skype sessions? And how much per session/ how long per session are you thinking?

    This approach is intrining.
I have the same questions as Lyme.
My fear of an injury and falling has inhibited me from putting 100% into learning new tricks, when i know i have the strength to do so.

It certainly sounds interesting, I would love to learn more about how you would run and market this as well.

Thank you everyone for responding so quickly! 🙂

Lyme Lyte, glad that it has helped you… I used it to deal with abuse in my childhood too, and it helped a lot. My world-view has changed a lot as a result, and thank heavens.

Sessions will be an hour each and over Skype or phone. Haven't decided the prices yet, but I was thinking £70 per session, that's equivalent to $100.

Azblanco, sorry to hear about your injury… I do think EFT could help you with that. You might find the following link interesting. It's from the website of Stacey Vornbrock, who uses EFT for sports:

Krissykiki, indeed! It's going to be a wild ride trying to market something most people have never heard of… but I hear EFT is going to be shown on Dr Oz next month or so, and that might educate more people about the benefits. What I will most likely do is start out offering free sessions in return for testimonials and feedback.

    X

acrobat– sorry for not being clear 😉
I do not have an injury. My fear of one inhibits me from progressing. Self doubt and getting past initial feelings to execute or “dig in” to a trick.

    😉

p.s. Azblanco, what you said reminded me of a fear I used to have… I was so scared to stand on someone's shoulders (without holding onto anything) during an Acrobalance class at the Circus, because I was scared I'd be too unstable and fall face first to the floor… EFT helped me get past that fear and I finally stood on a guy's shoulders! That was a good moment 🙂

    Hi Ladies!

Would you like to know how to get into that **OMFG I'm f–ing SCARED** pose on the pole and feel calm, cool, and collected instead of panicked and sweaty-palmed?

Yes? 🙂 Then Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is for you!

EFT is a technique that helps you release tension, anxiety and fear.

Like: fear of heights. Fear of falling. Fear of injuring yourself. Even the fear of an audience laughing at you — not in a good way. ðŸ˜‰

Like massage and acupressure, it works by applying pressure to certain points along your body.

It looks a little strange, but it feels incredibly relaxing — and the results are unbelievable.

    Here's how it works:

Harvard Medical School conducted a study that shows that stimulating selected acupuncture points (like we do in EFT) decreases the 'fight or flight' activity of the brain.

This means that your brain starts associating that thing that scares you, with calmness now- instead of fear.

Which means, that thing you used to be scared of? It doesn't bother you anymore.

Here's the link to the study:

    http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/hbm.20583/abstract

And here's what a few of my EFT clients have said about it:

'Woah. I used to think EFT was a little silly, and now I'm a believer.'

'Since our session, I feel a lot more at peace with this issue and have found a new surge of motivation and confidence that has been lacking in the past.'

'It makes me feel good inside to know that you are the real deal, and that you're sincere about helping me heal with EFT!'

‘All RIGHT!! I officially believe in EFT now thanks to your great work and helpful reframing of something I thought I just couldn't let go of. I feel lighter, happier, and I'm pumped to take on the world! Thanks so much, girl!'

So, ready to give it a try?

You've got nothing to lose — except a whole bunch of nasty, unhelpful fears! 😉

So come get your FREE 1 hour EFT session now… email me at: roshini_dominic@hotmail.com
(My website is under construction and will be up soon, too… watch this space!)

Honestly, nothing makes me happier in my heart than a pole dancer going from fearful to confident and raring to go, ready to tackle the thing that scared her, and much quicker than she ever thought possible.

Being a pole dancer myself, EFT is the best method I have found for this. It has helped me so much, that I've qualified as an EFT practitioner in order to help other polers.

My mission is to help as many people, as possible. It would be my absolute honour and privilege to help the pole dancers at StudioVeena! So please drop me a line at roshini_dominic@hotmail.com to schedule your free EFT session, or even if you just want to ask about whether I can help you with your particular pole challenge.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and serving you!

Hmm did you check with the site owners before presenting this? It feels quite a bit like an infomercial and personally I don't think that fits with the spirit of a forum.

    Hey Adstra,
I do apologise if it sounds like an infomercial… it truly isn't. I am not even charging for these sessions, so I'm not doing it for the money. I genuinely want to help people. I can check with Veena if she's ok with it though.

Have emailed Veena, now just waiting for a reply. But yeah, I am not making any money from this, I am giving away my time for free- and I don't mind, because it's my personal mission for women to be more confident and fearless in themselves. Only because I used to be crippled by fear, and now I'm not, after I discovered this method.

I realise it's my fault for writing it like an infomercial… I've been doing a marketing course recently and this is how they taught us to write stuff! I should have known it was going to sound icky, and just used normal language. So sorry about that. I don't want it to muddy my intention though- my intent is truly to help.

    Hi Acrobat,
Thank you for your kind email explaining everything about what you do, it sounds very interesting. Your original post read as rather commercial so thank you also for your reassurance on that. 🙂

Thank you for your sweet message, too, and thank you for understanding the true intent from my heart ðŸ™‚

Pole dance is just as mental as physical! If you continuely tell yourself something is impossible or continually think you will never get it then you make it so much harder for yourself. The members here are very protective of their site 😉 As mentioned anything that sounds like an ad that isn’t posted with our Permission tends to be questioned.

Thank you for sending us an email asking to post. I can see that you’re passionate about this technique and that’s great! Feel free to talk with others on here about the technique, just make sure it doesn’t come off as selling something 🙂
