I started about 5 or 6 months ago but not serious until 3 weeks ago. I was a foot off the ground and warmed I am about 4 inches

angy, what stretches do you do?
I do each leg, straight in front and these ones that are kinda like yoga moves. Do you also stretch everyday? I heard that helps so much if you do. I wish now I would have stay in gymnastics.

I almost posted pics last night but I was totally wiped out. Ive been able to do the splits my whole life but since Ive been stretching much more, they feel like Im super low. The pic in my profile, that was a no stretch split.
Im ready to work on my side splits!

I’ve never been able to do the splits and was never flexable ( had short " heel cords") physical therapy and all as a youngster for walking on my toes. I’m thankful for the 6 week split thing. Best flexability of my life so far. Not there but am working hard.

I’m not flexy by nature at all, so have to really work at it. I worked at splits really seriously for about 5-6 months before getting into them last summer. I enjoyed them for about 2 months and then I pulled a hamstring and totally lost them. I started the same stretches I’d been doing before and it was like starting over from scratch, and it SUCKED! I switched to the 6-week plan and now I’m back in them (took less than 2 weeks). I still can’t just drop into them anytime and have to be warm and stretch my way down into them, but I’m just thrilled to get down into them! Straddle split is really improving, too, which I never thought I’d see! It’s great to finally find something that gets great results FAST!!

yea I wanted to do a splits progress photo for a while, but i forgot about doing it when the forum was more active. a good splits day, super sore today though… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif -
Sapphire, I thought you were super-duper flexy already! That is a perfect split! I can get there after working myself down for awhile. Are you able to do splits without lots of stretching into them first? To me, that would be the ultimate!!!

I always try to not split on "cold" muscles, like… not having done much activity, I was told that can be really bad for you. I can split w/o stretching both legs first, but I try to do the whole thing so i dont injure. Trying to get that front leg all the way flat is hard! going to slowly start working on a little over split… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

just want to say great job on the progression and dedication everyone! my leg still hurts (weeks later) from doing a really deep split on totally cold muscles, but will post what i can tommorow. keep it up, we’ll all be gumbi in no time! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

So, when doing splits (or at least trying to do the splits) should our front foot be flexed or pointed? Just wondering if there is a set way to do it or if it’s just a preference either way?
-
I am soooo envious of all of you who can do the splits!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Or are even remotely close. I’m so far away its disheartening. Even after a year of stretching for pole, I didn’t get any closer. I think I need to try some different methods.

That’s super close danceinside. That’s like… 4 more seconds.
I just started my super flex challenge yesterday, so this is …
what I’m starting with this go around. I’m not completely warmed up into it, but this is what I am able to slide into with just the barest of muscle warming.https://www.studioveena.comhttp:://farm5.static.flickr.com/4007/4539320107_23fc87ab60.jpg
