    I have a question about the back leg…should it be pointed to the side or facing the floor?

    what are some good stretches for the box splits??

    To the side is called jazz splits and the only split you can really do when wearing shoes.

I gave my self a year to get into my front splits. I’m now 2 1/2 inches away https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif from achieving my front splits goal. I told myself that if I even get down to 6 inches away, I’d be happy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif So i’m actually thrilled to get to this point. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

    I got my first split ever today! I have been going to these stretching classes 2 times a week at the pole studio I go to that focus only on stretching for splits. I have been taking those classes for about 2 months except for july. Today I managed to get into a split finally! I was so happy. But then when I tried again I couldn’t do it.. ARgghh. But was VERY close to it. Anyways. I just had to tell everyone about this and I feel so accomplished even if I could only do it once https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif I just hope that I will get better at it and be able to do it always! Not just once.

    Why are the middle split so much harder ?!

    I’m getting close to one of my front splits too, finally! But I was wondering the same thing about the middle splits. Especially since I did have those when I was a kid (back then I couldn’t really do the front split though, lol).     I could also do the middle splits when I was a kid but not the side splits! :O Is it just a kids thing? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif Hehe.

    I started pole 14 weeks ago and have decided to try and start working towards the splits sooner rather than later. I’ve never managed them when I was younger. Below are my splits from today (I only started 3 days ago) after doing half an hour stretches and then 1 hour of pole.

    Heya everyone,

    I’m new here, but really finding this place to be great. It’s also helped me progress in my splits alot. My lefts are down to about 2inches now. I’m kinda stuck there though, havent be able to get any flatter in a few weeks https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

    I have always wanted to get into splits but never been able. I got into Battle of the pole recently wich is held on january 22. And splits are required in the routine. So 4 weeks ago I started doing the Splits in 6 weeks program and adding some other stretches and I have made some great progress. I stretch for about 40-60 minutes 6 times a week. I have been sore in my hips and feet almost constantly since I began stretching. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

    So after 14 months of 30 min warmup on the eliptical and 45 mins of various split stretches, starting at 19 inches I am now finally flat down in my right front splits and 2-3 inches on my left. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I have to be very warm though to get into it and it still hurts when I’m down flat https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif but I can hold it there with no hands for 1 minute. Here is a split pic on the silk but my splits look flatter on the floor. I will need to take a pic on the floor soon.DSCF4500.jpg

    I started the 6 weeks splits programme yesterday, but I can’t find a measuring tape (how do you measure how far you are from the ground anyway? Do you do it by yourself or does somebody help you?) and the camera I want to use is at my bf house. I’ll borrow it Saturday/Sunday, if I remember. I wasn’t sore this morning, maybe because I walked for 15minutes after doing the stretches, but it felt harder to do today than it did yesterday. I thought I would try front splits as well and it was like they were killing me.

    One question: when I do some of the stretches, I feel like I stretched some muscles at the back of my knee as well. Is this normal? I feel it especially when I just did a stretch, get up, start walking and bend my knees. I haven’t started poling and won’t be starting for a long time so I’m trying to do the little that I can do without a pole.
