I was hoping for some creative idea help from all you awesome ladies!

A local performance group in my area is having auditions on Monday for their next show in May.  They feature a variety of dance acts such as lyra, interpreative, burlesque, etc and do a really good job with their shows by presenting things in a very classy way and in a really nice venue as a dinner show.  I spoke to the person in charge and he is ineterested with the idea of adding aerial/acrobatic pole dance to their line-up!

Anywho – the auditions for the May event is on Monday.  The May theme is "Day of Dread" on Friday the 13th https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_batman.gif and they want to the audition to be an introduction or small piece of what I would do for the show in May.  IE; he wants to see an interpretation of this theme (horror, personal fears, etc) and how I could incorporate that into a pole routine.

I am SO not good at coming up with creative things and was hoping some of you awesome folks might have some ideas to get my creative juices flowing!!  Any help or ideas at all would be much appreciated!! I just need a little jump start https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

    Thanks in advance!

I found this on Wikipedia about the history of Friday the 13th… could be interesting?

The actual origin of the superstition, though, appears also to be a tale in Norse mythology. Friday is named for Frigga, the free-spirited goddess of love and fertility. When Norse and Germanic tribes converted to Christianity, Frigga was banished in shame to a mountaintop and labeled a witch. It was believed that every Friday, the spiteful goddess convened a meeting with eleven other witches, plus the devil — a gathering of thirteen — and plotted ill turns of fate for the coming week. For many centuries in Scandinavia, Friday was known as "Witches' Sabbath.

yes, poor Frigga, it sucks to be stereo-typed…. I would say what about a ladder but i don't guess it really fits..ladders, black cats don't they say all that is even unluckier on Friday the 13th.

Thanks for the ideas so far ladies!

I think the group wants something more theatrical or dramatic… I was tossing around the idea of going with a vampire theme?  What do y'all think?  Here is an Evanescene song I thought would be rockin' to use with that sort of theme:

A few concept Ideas, all these songs have kind of a mysterious vibe to them…

Song: Beautiful monster by Neyo   Costume: Anything dark and seductive or animalistic

Song:Welcome to Mystery by Plain White T's    Costume:  Something mystical or otherworldly    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cMkZ04AgOI

Song: What's a girl to do, by Bat for Lashes  Costume:  just listen to the song, you could take this any direction you want, could even work for a vampire!   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1wnOUH2jk8

Girl you should just do them!  There is no time like the present and we will always have things we will want to improve on, that never changes =)

For a vampire theme, I like "Children of the Night" by Nash the Slash. It's got a fast tempo, but you could go under the beat.  You could incorporate props like a black, burning candle, a cape, a stake, blow out the candle at the end–the possiblities are endless! If you want to go more serial-killer, Siouxsie and the Banshees version of "Helter Skelter" cannot be beat for creepiness! I see knives, fake blood, dropping on the pole down to scare and kill or something. You could ooze around for the slow part, climbs and drops during the build-up and then pull out all your impressive spins at the end! Both songs have tremendous audience impact and shiver factor!

I think Lacrymosa is a great Evanescence song for the theme, but you should consider how you want the energy level to be – dark and ominous, or flashy and fun? Lacrymosa is very subdued so you will need a lot of long drawn out movement, maybe sort of slinky.

For something high energy, you might give "Creepy Crawler" by Zombie Girl a go… its a bit of an industrial sort but spunky =)

Or maybe "Wytches' Brew" by Omnia?

    Or "2 Falken" by Faun?

(Can you tell I'm digging Asleep By Dawn's remix cd??)

Let me know if you make it, can't wait to see what you come up with!
