I have had a lil mynx for almost a year now. As a bigger dancer it seems to be a bad choice. The ceiling mount dug a very deep hole in the ceiling. I remedied the problem by mounting the plastic mound to a wood plaque that I bought at micheals then buying stronger screws from home depot which I screwed through the wood plaque and into the joist. That seemed to work very well so those of you with that problems might have somesuccess with that. I read some where that lil mynx was less safe on wood floors so when I moved to a house that has no carpet I didn’t feel comfortable on my lil mynx. I will be getting an x-pole soon and I am very excited to see if it works better for me. I really like idea that the x-pole is not relying on a spring for tension and is instead screwed in for maximum tension with the ceiling. I was wondering what the Pros and cons of 50 mm pole vs. 45mm are?

I’m a bigger girl as well. I started on one of the "cheaper" poles…I can’t really remember what brand name it was but I bought it off ebay for around $150. It did have a small screw that went in the ceiling (that also doubled as a plant hook for diguise) and I really didnt have a problem with it until it started to warp where the pole pieces fit together and the pole piece actually started to over-lap one another creating a very sharp surface. The reason I bought a cheaper one was basically just to see if I was going to like pole dancing enough and actually stick with it. Sure enough I fell in love and about a year later bought an X-pole. I love my X-pole, very sturdy, and it does not screw into the ceiling. Its never left a mark on my ceiling, hardwood floors, or fallen down. I do wish I would have stuck with the 50mm instead of switching to the 45mm because I feel that tricks are harder to hold with the smaller pole. I also wish I would have gotten brass because a lot of ladies say they are much grip-i-er, and living in FL with all the humidity its almost IMPOSSIBLE to maintain any kind of grip no matter which grip aides you use. If I were you, and you know pole dancing is something ur going to love….buy an expensive pole…its a great investment https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Hi, everybody! I started pole dancing last year, in December, and so far I haven’t had too much luck with my pole purchases. Now I ran out of ideas and I really don’t wanna give up on poling.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif. This is what happened…
I first bought a chrome x-pole which was really great.. until 4 months after when my body flared up into this terrible rash..For 3 months I tried all the cheapest solutions to cure myself till I couldn’t take it anymore and spent the money on an allergy test. I found out i am allergic to cobalt, which the chrome contains. It’s funny, I did assume it could have been a nickel allergy but when I did a self test nothing happened.
Oh well! I decided to go for a titanium gold next, knowing I’m not allergic to that, but this one didn’t last too long either. It broke last month and I think it’s because I shrugged off a defect that me and my husband noticed when we first put it up and then we just forgot about it because the pole was working just fine. After 5 months I decided to take it down for an inspection and i did it after 5 months because one, yes, I was lazy, and second I didn’t think I needed to since they said it’s not a requirement like with the x-poles.
So anyway, when we tried to put it back up, the pole did not extend anymore all the way to the ceiling, the extending joint just came off..I really donno how to explain because my first language isn’t english and this is too mechanical for me. Basically it’s broken from the inside, the pieces shifted weirdly..I donno..I thought about calling the x-pole customer service but I’m not sure how they can help since they don’t give warranties and fixing it would probabily cost me more than buying a new one. I just took it as a lesson and thought about trying the stainless steel Platinum Stages this time, because titanium gold just didn’t work for me…My palms get really sweaty and I had to wash my hands every 3 minutes to be able to dance and every 10 with Dry Hands lotion. The sweat doesn’t seem to dry off like it does on the chrome and instead it makes it feel all greasy. So I was actually not very sad when the x-pert broke but my bad luck persists with Platinum Stages as well.
I ordered the multi piece stainless steel at the end of November and every week I called they assured me that it would be here at the end of that week. So finally this Monday I get a tracking number for UPS saying i will receive it on Wednesday. Hooray..not! Wednesday passed, I called UPS today to see what’s the delay and I found out that Platinum Stages didn’t even ship it and that is just a pending number. I called back Platinum Stages and they said they were waiting for some screws and that it will delivered NEXT week!!! So I filed a Fraud complain and now i’m waiting for my refund, have no pole and no other ideas!!!
ARGGG..What do I do? I can only use poles based on friction and these are top brands I know..I don’t think Lil’ Minx have any like this, do they? I did like the old technology of x-pole but I really don’t want to go back to titanium gold, unless there is no other choice, I guess..https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif…Any ideas? Pls help.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif

Have you thought about trying a brass pole? Sorry to hear about your problems with Platinum Stages ~ I get my poles from them and have had pretty good luck https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
Are you able to permanently mount a pole? One piece poles are really the best the way to go ~ In my opinion.
Don’t give up!!! I’m sure there is a pole out there for you!

    Hi, Flexx!:)
I did thought about bras poles. I never tried them out but from what I read they are similar to titanium gold so if that’s true, then i’m not too excited about them either. It seems like stainless steel fits my palms best and the Arizonian atmosphere too. Uh, I really wanted the Platinum Stages one and I was wondering if it would be possible to buy it from a different store that has it in stock…but, you can never know and that store would still go thru the main factory, wouldn’t it? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif I wish there was a way around it but there is no way I can order back from them after lying to me like that..I don’t understand how they can act this way.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_neutral.gif
Hm, I am not very sure about the permanent one. I live in a rented apartment and I will have to move soon to a different one so that is why I figured friction poles with extensions would be my best choice. I’ll look more into it. Thx for your support, Flexx!:)
    Happy Holidays, all!:) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rendeer.gif

I’m pretty sure you can only get Platinum Stages poles through them. I have 3 poles from Platinum Stages ~ I had a good experience with them ~ They did cut one of my poles too long, but I called them and they took care of it right away. I prefer stainless steel too. Brass is too sticky for me!
    There is a company called Pole Danzer that has removable stainless poles ~ Here is their link: http://www.poledanzer.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I’ve heard lots of good things about them. I will probably go through them for my next pole!
    Good luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Cool! Thx so much for your help, Flexx! I decided to order the portable partypole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif. Uhhh, there is some hope left after all…and that warranty offer is incredible! Wish all companies would do that. Thank you again. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif We’ll see how it goes..

Hey there MaryJane. In the old studio where I worked, we had brass PoleDanzer poles & I LOVED them. I don’t have any experience with their portable party poles but I think they’re a solid company you can rely on. I’d love to hear more once you get your pole. Robert seems super nice. Glad you found them!

Hey, yogabeachbabe! That’s good to hear and yeah, i talked to Robert too and seemed like a nice guy and was offering to help out with cutting the pole if I ever need it shorter in the future. I was pretty impressed so far and feel less paranoid about it now. If you want, I can email you with more info once i start using it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

    Yeah,Flex! Look!
"If you are not totally satisfied we will refund your money. There is a life time guarantee on manufactured defects and an 18-month guarantee on product wear-and-tear."
Sounds more than nice! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif What I’m skeptical about is seeing how little the top of the pole is..uh..and from what I understood, the portable party pole is pretty much like x-pole..but at least x-pole has the huge dome that makes it seem secure. I’m surprised there was no complaint about poles falling or breaking, or so Robert says https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif ..I guess I have to wait and see..
Happy New Year to you too, girls, and many more years to come! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

    Hey BMJ ~
There is a small mount that you will have to attach to your ceiling. It only uses a couple of screws so you can remove it easily (and fill in the holes) when you have to move. They will also give you a fake smoke detector to hide the ceiling mount when your pole is not in place. I should think your new pole will be safer than just a tension mounted pole because it will be attached directly to the ceiling.
If Robert told you there hasn’t been any complaints about poles falling or breaking, I’m sure he’s telling the truth ~
And with a warranty like that, I wouldn’t worry about a thing if I were you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
Can’t wait to hear all about it! Have a great day!

I have a little minx and its pink, but it bolts into the ceiling, so it's in storage, but I have an S Factor pole (chrome…bad choice) that has a compression pad so that is better, BUT its too slick and it makes it difficult for me to practice because I'm always slipping it doesn't matter what I do I'm either constantly applying grip or whipping it down.  Its made me a little fearful to practice, so I might go for a Xpole and try and sell my other one.

Here is my Question the pole I have now is chrome (from another maker) and it is really slippery. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif  I personally like the look of silver than gold.  so I want a material that won't grip as hard as brass because we have that at my studio, but isn't as slippery as chrome, so all that is left in the silver look is titanium and stainless steel.  Can I have input on which one I should get.  I'm getting 50MM and most likely expert pole (Static and Spinning).

I think X pole should do something where people can do a trade in and the trade in can go towards the amount of their new Xpole, lol it sucks when you have to shell out more money! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Cantetinza17- I have a Stainless steel Lil mynx, and find that it is definitely sticky enough during humid times (such as all the time around where I live!) and especially when you take the time to warm it up.
