“Thriller” ~ Advanced Group Routine
Posted by Danielle Tillie on October 16, 2012 at 12:38 amHey everyone! So this past weekend was my studio's Halloween themed Pole & Aerial Showcase! We had a blast and had some absolutely beautiful performances. I'll be uploading my solo piece as my October Challenge. I'm sharing our advanced group routine to Thriller! We had a blast putting this together. We had 10 girls and 7 poles, so we got creative with chairs and some doubles moves. The ending was a crowd favorite! I hope you enjoy! 🙂

*bump* I want some opinions! This was our first attempt at coreographing a more advanced group routine. So, what do you think? 😉

Well, I think I already commented on YT, but it looks like a lot of time and work and dedication went into it. I use to cheer and it is all about being in synk and sharp movement. For pole, you were all pretty on key with each other. I was impressed by it. That is a lot of people to get together and it worked.

Yeah. Getting 10 girls together at the same time was a bear! The Thriller dance at the end almost didn’t come together, but our studio owner (who only dabbles in pole and aerial, but has coached cheerleading) stepped in and saved the day a week before the performance. We learned all 28 counts of 8 in one day and practiced it again once, but because we practiced individually, it all came together. Then we added our Michael Jackson (the studio owner) to the dance because she deserved her spotlight for helping us out! Of course and also because she had the costume, lol. 🙂

I was wondering if a cheerleader didn't help at the end. LOL!!! It looked great! I would have never known it almost did not work. It really was awesome!!

Yup commented on YT… brilliant, well done & FUN! We have a showcase at our studio this coming Sunday (come join us if you’re in the area — tix still available!) & we’ll put on a couple group routines I’m responsible for, including a Zombie one… Hope we look as good as this! Well, ours is not an advanced routine, but… Still if we could be as clean & sync-ed up as u all are that’d be great. Maybe if we are, I’ll even post the vid here on SV — I never have before! So wish us luck!

Sure, Veena!!! Share away! 😀 Thanks so much everyone! We had a great time creating this performance.

Omg how cute!! I actually just did my first group routine to this song this weekend in a showcase too! Except it was more like a thriller flash mob, no polers 🙁 I know how hard it is to have everyone together and our group part was way shorter than yours, great job!!!!! Mine is below if you want to see my take on the same song!
