Hopefully some of you can help me!

I teach intro to pole as well as intermediate pole and chair dancing. I love teaching my pole classes but I'm getting a little burnt out in my chair dance class. The way I teach my class if we first do warmup of course then I teach my students a whole entire chair dance every class. We learn a few moves and continue on until everyone has learned the dance then we have a "performance" at the end. I do teach the same dance for about three weeks but it is getting a little rough constantly coming up with new chair dance routines. It isn't even fun anymore! I was hoping everyone would have advice on how to change my class routine so that maybe I'm not teaching a whole new routine every class. How does everyone teach in their classes? Do you only teach part of a dance or not teach a dance at all and just some sexy moves. I feel like my students like the dance part of it. Thanks for any advice you can give me!!! I have to get out of the rut!!!!

I take a chair dance class sometimes, and we don't always do full choreography.  There are some classes where we just learn specific cool moves that are difficult, so it takes a whole class to work on them.  Other times we focus heavily on working out on the chair, not dancing (i.e. putting feet on the chair and doing pushups).  Sometimes we will practice "sexy walking" to our chairs, and might have a walk-off between each other.  I don't think you need to do a full routine every class, that seems hard!

I haven't done a "chair dance class" where the entire time (apart from warm up) is devoted to chair work, but I've done classes which include chair work, but is mostly "dance based aerobics" using the pole as well.  We just used the chair for a few moves including a sexy walk around the chair. What about incorporating some floor work.  I think perhaps a whole routine is a bit much….maybe do a few chair moves, some floor work, wall work, sexy walks, crawls etc to break it up a bit. Can you look on You Tube for ideas perhaps? Hope this helps.
