    Hi there,

I’ve just purchased my first pair of dancing heels! Very excited 🙂 six inch bordello’s. Love love love them!!

But … I’ve only ever danced in elastosplit ballet shoes or bare feet. I can walk in heels (even really tall ones) fairly well and have even been known to run across the road a few times without falling a over t!

Any tips for dancing in six inch heels? All I can find online is people saying wear them in, ensure they have an ankle strap etc.

I’m more looking for help on ways to transition from floor work to standing, landing gracefully, coming out of handstands, and ways to position your foot on the pole that may be different when in bare feet. I’ve seen some girls just look clunky and I’d rather make my moves as graceful as possible.

I’m sure all Venna girls are a font of knowledge!

    Thanks heaps!

practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice

That is probably the best advice that I can give.  Landing is getting used to having additional weight and distance on your feet.  Coming out of an invert of any sort comes down to control….if you are letting gravity bring you down you need to learn to fight gravity so you don't have a huge clunk on the floor.  Dragging toes makes your walk look slinky.  Cliumbing is going to rely more on knee grip than top of foot.  As I started, practice.  You will find there are little things that you need to do different due to the extra weight or shoe style but the only way to figure that out is to practice.

Pam said it best…practice! Walk around your house and do housework in your heels…it's a gret workout too!

I have a whole workshop on how to walk in heels. A couple tips:

Avoid pounding your heels into the ground…try to walk more on the balls of your feet. Especially when landing on the floor after a spin or coming down from inverts.

The higher the heel the shorter the step.

its kind of hard to give advice for this… i'd say wear them around , shoes are hot but they can loose all their "hotness" in a second if the person wearing them doesnt know how to perform with them

That is the only way I know how to dance is in heels…I try barefoot and resort to tippy toes and wind up putting on heels…and still dance a lot on my toes,so I can’t wear heels with open toes..but yes, practice is the best thing…and really only thing..you may not look graceful nd sexy at first, but keep working at it..and you may experience soreness again in certain areas of your legs..

    YES PRACTICE!

Point  toes and be conscious of leg and hip angling. Yes balls of feet walks and wall/pole work looks better imo, learn the acyrlics (platform area) and ankle placement for slide down pole and floorwork pike (?)

    PRACTICE!

Stilettos were never a thought in my life till I started poling, now I can't wait to buy another and another. I've been hooked on pleasers (brand) treasure (name of  style) so I can stuff random trinklets in them for fun!

    PRACTICE!

Look for sole rubber grips and if the toe (straps?) are too taunt try heating with blow drier to warm  them. That is my quick fix stretching, because I like them a little taunt when I'm sweaty (always) I don't want to slide off 6-7 inches mid sexy walking. Ankle straps are good for (imo) climbing on hot days, learning inverts (always scared I might stab myself in the face)

PRACTICE. Don't let height scare you, I can walk better in 6 3/4 -7 1/2" heels (must be the platform) than 6 – 5" heels.
