    Hello everyone!

I'm progressing quite well with the help of Veena's lessons and I of course want to show it off to the world by taking some pictures / filming it all.

But I suspect I am suffering under Murphy's law. No matter how I start out my move I always end up at a bad angle for the camera 😛

eg. Im doing the star now and tried starting out from all different sides of the pole but somehow I always end up with my back to the camera. (Maybe my butt just wants to show off…it's always been a real show off)

Does anyone have tips (not only related to positioning but any tips at all) that will make our videos as fabulous as the sight of us on the pole is in reality?

Haha, my butt is the same https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

When I try to film a move "pretty" I'll always do it on spinning mode. This way you'll catch it in all its glory from all angles. For more difficult tricks I'll just spin slowly and the video will still show it from different angles.

And on static, before I do a trick, I think about in which direction I want it to show to the camera and then I figure out where I have to climb up etc. Sometimes it takes more takes to make it look like it looks in my head https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif But with more filming practice this will get better.

I put a mirror behind the camera, so the chances I catch the desired angle are higher. Only one problem. When I put the camera low (so the legs look longer), I end up having photos with my eyes up. I must remind myself to stare at the camera at all times LOL…

Your ability to control the direction your moves face will come with time and practice, until then you can try putting your pole on spin as mentioned earlier, or invite a friend to come over to take some photos of you.  That way no matter which way you end up facing, your friend will still find a good angle to take the shot. 🙂

Filming videos is easier because you could just dance on spinning pole, it catches all of angles until your pole stops spinning. Static pole is challenging, I would think a mirror behind camera is helpful. For taking static photos, I have to use static pole, which gives me more control for position I end up in. You can do this yourself if you use your camera with timer setting, mine goes up to 10 seconds, which is just enough for me to run to the pole, and get into the certain pose, then hold and wait for camera to flash… =D

LOL at the 10 second timing. I too must run as quick as I can to the pole before the flash starts =D
