To NY on my own??
Hi guys,
I am thinking about going to New York for the USPDF week. I'd like to do workshops, perhaps some private classes – and sightseeing!! Now, I'm from Europe, and I've never been to the US before. I am 24 but look like 17, I'm quite a cutie https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif, and my mom's really worried about her little girl going to the Big Apple all alone! She's been there, and although she doesn't want to tell me not to go there at all, she'd much rather see me going with someone else. It just might be safer, you know. But unfortunately I could not convince anybody to come with me …
So, what do you think? Is it a big risk to go there on my own?

ooooh sounds so much fun! wish i had the money or i'd join ya! I wouldn't think NYC is dangerous at all if you just use your common sense (don't go down dark alleyways, if someone looks dodgy – they are, don't wander around at 4am in the morning etc etc). I didn't think it was any more dangerous or different from any major city… have you travelled by yourself before? If you're sensible I don't see any reason why anything really bad would happen to you!

yeah, my common sense is quite distinct (hope I'm using the right word there ^^)
I've never travelled all alone before, mostly with my mum or a friend; Paris, London and Istanbul are the biggest cities I've been to so far.
But I'd SO kick myself if I went so far only to be kidnapped or something, because someone thought "ah, look at this nice little girl so far away from home" … aaah, I just don't know 🙂

there are a ton of girls on ths site that are goin to the comp. im sure once u get there u will meet some. i lived on li for awhile and never had an issue with the city. u just gotta appear confident and if u get lost go inside to a safe place like a hotle lobby or store and ask for directions. other than that u should be fine!!!
