Transition out of lunge pose
Posted by Felicia D on August 4, 2014 at 11:35 amIm putting together a performance for the upcoming expo at the studio i go to, and I’m trying to figure out a cool way to get outta a lunge position, preferably coming to standing facing the pole. Any ideas?

I take it the photo is the lunge you want to get out of so what if you tried bringing outstretched leg into same position as bent leg and then body wave up. The position of your body and placement of hands is difficult for a spin. You could reverse hands and try a ballerina or something simple like that. Hope this helps a little.

The body wave up is a great idea! Thank you!! Yes its a beautiful pose 🙂

How about you stand up sweep up the back leg and point it high as you can whilst arching back? Using pole arm for support? Then step/pirouette round pole to face it.
I can do quick vid if this makes no sense.
Body wave always lovely too. -
That makes perfect sense! Thank you, im gonna play around with these tonight, see what feels better!

I did it yesterday in pole jam vid at 0.37 – 0.45 min in, lunge to high kick pose to pirouette to V fan leg variation. It’s bit dark but if you turn brightness up you can see vaguely how it looks, I’m the dancer at the back/right.

You can roll across the pole (over your back) and do a lovely reverse stag/body spiral position, gorgeous on spin mode if you happen to be. 🙂

You can do a corkscrew/cradle spin variation from the lunge to stand up. You’d have to experiment with seeing how the hand placement would need to work or whether it would be a spin in reverse, depending on your position to the pole. I’ve done this lots of times before 🙂
