So I spoke with Sarah C. after the comp and she informed me that she is now engaged to her bf and has been living with him out in CA for a while now. She told me that she was happy that she didnt win, and said that she is retiring from pole dancing and wants to be a motocross/dirtbike rider. She told me she did not choreograph anything, and I was actually kind of disappointed with her performance. She did not seem into it at all, just walked back and forth between poles, and I kept waiting for a new, big trick that we have not seen her do….but it never happened. She did her usual, yet AMAZING tricks as before, but I could tell she just was not connected with the dance or had any passion in her movements or enjoyment in her facial expressions. I am sad to hear that she will be retiring from pole, but I hope that one day she will come back… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif it was still awesome to see her perform on stage again, but she looked SO different with bleach blonde, curly hair…..
I totally agree Allie. As I watched her I was like "Oh either this is a freestyle or she is drawing a huge blank" LOL. You could definitely tell that she wasn’t into it at all and then when I heard that she hadn’t choreographed anything it all made sense. I guess she’s kind of over it. And that happens, it’s cool. She’s still awesome even when she doesn’t give a damn LOL.
The hair threw me off too. LOL

jessalyn danced to phantom of the opera– "all i ask of you"– it’s sung as a duet.
i really wish i knew more about how the judges selected the winner– NOT an easy task! the quality of performances were head and shoulders above last year. it’s amazing to realize how much pole has evolved. a year ago, sarah’s twisted grip handspring was THE new trick. women this year were doing iron Xs, flag presses to brass monkeys, TG lifts from a climb, shoulder mount CLIMBS… there was a lot of artistry and dance even though the physicality was so insane, everyone in amateurs did their optional routine without shoes, which i think was a reflection of the changed paradigm after amber won USPDF west.
the show was really great to watch. i wonder how pole will evolve over the next year!
I can’t wait to see how the anty is upped for years to come. I feel priviledged to have gotten to be there and see it with my own eyes. I can’t wait for next year. I’ll be wearing my "Roxy-Pink" T-shirt and cheering for my girl!

I got a clip of Estee’s performance, only because it was to a Lacuna Coil song that I absolutely love.
I also got Allegra & Jenyne’s performances (shame on me!) But I couldnt help myself.The performances were definitely amazing. Zoraya did phenominal! As did Jessalynn… I’m suprised that neither of them placed to be honest. Zoraya had the cutest white outfit on & did her optional barefoot (as did Jessalyn) and Zoraya’s strength is AMAZING. I thought Jessalynn’s movements were so beautiful & she flowed from one pole to the other so well. Im truly suprised niether of them placed.
Am I allowed to say that I was disappointed with Leigh Ann’s performance? The music was SO distracting, because it switched up every 30 seconds or so.
Alethea did fantastic, I am SO biased though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Her first performance was to deftones… I think a variation on their song Change? Cant exactly remember… & her optional was to Tool. Yes, she did spins & inverts with the handcuffs moving up along the pole with her… it was hot! She did a good job concealing her taking them off by dancing and doing contortion type moves to distract. I want to say she messed up her handspring about 3/4ths through. She droped down from it before she landed a pose. Am I correct? However, I talked to Brook Notary (one of the judges) and she said that mess ups do not hold high value to them as long as transitions and everything else is good. They are very forgiving to sliding & mess ups…
Yeah Alethea did mess up when she went into her True Grip handspring….and can we just talk about that for a minute. The true grip. OMG!!!! The night before USPDF me, Elyse and Jungle Cat were poling around (hehe) and we came across Karols first True Grip attempts and I had never seen that grip before. We tried it and it just seems so damn hard! I’m amazed by anyone with the guts to even try that in a show and if she had gotten I probably would have peed a little bit more than I had peed already when I saw she was in handcuffs. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Hey ya’ll, I didn’t really want to talk much about Amber’s routine b/c there is a surprise in it and I didn’t want to give it away. I will say though that along with Jessalyn’s exquisite piece, Amber’s was my fav! It did tell a story, one that is important to her and that you’ll recognise if you’ve read any of her blogs or read some of her writings here. I think she has been hesitant about putting her sexiness out there to display and she brought that to life on stage Saturday and totally owned it in her performance. At least, that was how I perceived it. It was really brilliant and mid-way through, she even had the croud laughing. It kept me enthralled from start to finish and I was so happy for her, being up there on that stage, to be able to share her life with us. It was a personal piece and it was such a pleasure to watch her perform. I did take one of her workshops this weekend and I will say two things. One, she is a talented instructor with thorough knowledge of anatomy/physiology. Take a workshop with her if you can!!! And two, she is stunning in person. She looks like an angel carved out of alabaster! Oh, and I have a third thing, so is oh so very sweet!

Karol you kicked ass too girlfriend! When "The Garden" came on for your compulsory (I think it was) I was like "Oh Hell yes. I love this song!" and you killed it of course. I knew you were gonna be Miss Sexy. I knew it.

as long as no one rats anyone out the Wendy or Anna, we should be good to go. Maybe its just me but I dont see why you ‘werent’ to photo or film the competition. I understand they have an image to uphold as USPDF but I dont think anyone would use it in a bad way as were all out to promote Pole as a good thing.
I only saw half of them last night. My brain could not process anymore tricks. I am also a bit biased w/Jessalynn’s but it was soooo damn beautiful. I really thought for a second that it was a broadway show. It would of fit right in there.

Just as a general FYI:
USPDF does record the competition to give to the competitors – but they can’t sell DVDs to the general public because of the music rights. Maybe they’ll be able to do that someday, but that’s not the case right now. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
