These are just as of yesterday…they haven't yet posted the complete list yet…..
-
Ok today they added more Pros' just recently…
Denise Brown,Tn; Estee zakar, Ca; Mina Mortezaie, Ca; Rebecca Starr, Fl;

Wow, Michelle Stanek is considered an amateur??? That's really outrageous. I mean, she's phenomenal–a total pro! I have to say, that's really intimidating. It kinda doesn't seem fair. I hate to disrespect uspdf in any way, but I would kind of think ranking Michelle as an amateur would discourage a lot of girls from competing in that category.

Yoga…you have to understand what they consider amateur and what they consider pro. The standings are set up exactly like bodybuilding…you cannot earn your "pro" status until you place in the amateur category. It in no way means your ability…it is just a rating system.
-
in the horse world you are a pro if you give lessons or train horses for money…….
-
Awesome line up!
I know the word "amateur" can be a bit deceiving but really it just means you haven't placed in something yet.
-
Yeah, after I posted I realized it probably has nothing to do with ability whatsoever. I think that I was thinking that since Michelle won Pole Art that she would have a pro status. Anyway, it really is a powerhouse line up! Very exciting!
-
yeah its weird how different types of compitions (pole, horses, bodybuilding, snowboarding whatever) decide what is pro and ammy.

After watching some of the amateur competition entries, I became negative towards my idea of entering for 2012 … there is NO way I'm remotely close to those women! But like mentioned before, the only reason they're amateur is because they've yet to place to gain pro.

It is a phenomenal line up and competition this year will be fierce!
-
I hope they'll expand the categories in coming years – maybe tack a "Novice" (or a better name that I can't think of right now) division on for up-and-comers who aren't quite to the level that the "Amateurs" are at now…which is basically "pro," LOL! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
It would be fun to get more people involved – but I know that must triple the preparation and paperwork and so forth for USPDF.
Very cool, I had SO much fun watching all the gorgeous videos.

There are so many other competitions that peopel can get involved in. Pretty much ANY professional sport has levels…you are not going to get automatically into one of the top competitions on your first try. Everyone has to work their way up through the ranks….pole dancing is no different.
As far as novice competitions go, Mary Ellyn is planning to have that level in the Midwest Competition as well as an over 45 category.

@polekitten87: Miss Thing…it's only the beginning of 2011! Why are you doubting your abilities for 2012 already? You just might shock yourself at the level of improvement that can take place in 1 year. Perhaps you won't be selected as an Amateur USPDF competitor, but imagine how great you'll be if you train with the discipline and passion of a competitive athlete? Good luck to you, girl!

@keex: I love your inspiring words! I have been trying to convince my friend to enter USPDF forever! She's awesome. Anyway, I set a goal this year to enter USPDF 2012. I don't think i'm quite ready either. But, with the committment anything is possible 😉 So, my friend finally agreed to do the same! It makes things a little less painless when you have the support of others.
