    Hey ladies

So I’ve been poling for about a year and im interested in taking my abilities to the next level. I’m currently taking lessons with a studio in my home town but I’m not getting enough out of it. The studio is great for people who want to get fit and learn a few pole tricks but not if you want to train and eventually compete. The bulk of the classes are beginner classes with a few intermediate classes. The advanced tricks classes pop occasionally but end up cancelled due to lack of interest. I want to learn the hard moves and it sucks that no one else does. She’s a good teacher but I feel like I’m stalling out and that’s not good.

I’m considering making a 1.5 hr drive to the next town over to attend a studio that really trains students. My plan is to go every other week for s long period of time since it’s so far. I really need in person instruction in addition to using lessons here?Does anyone have any experience doing this? Does anyone travel a long distance to pole ?

Does she offer privates? Privates would take you to the next level without having to travel so far. Though you could supplement with traveling to the other studio too (and of course serious practice on your own).

She does at $150 per hour( which sucks) I do home pole a lot so I want to keep that going.

Wow. How does she justify $150 an hour? Is she a 'pro'?

Nope not a pro but someone who learned to pole and is certified. She mostly does pole parties and really wants it to be profitable to do that type of thing.

Do you need in person training? There are numerous people who offer Skype training (Charley I know is at least one and There is another one that I cannot think of right now that offers competition training). If you are seriously wanting to compete you need to work with someone who understands what the judges are looking for, not just someone who can take you to the next level. I would also keep my eye out for workshops that are coming near you and schedule privates that way.

Also Skittles and Phoenix do skype privates for competitions.  I also do comp skyping for what it's worth.  (I'm currently working on a cool piece for someone in Vegas via FaceTIme) LOVE technology.  I've done a skype with Phoenix before – it was awesome!
