    So they have videos and are offering a one day "certification" locally and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this company or the videos.

    A couple of the instructors at my stuido went for one at Gold's Gym a few months ago. I know its high energy and incorporates burlesque and striptease moves. this is what they got:

    The certification class includes:

    1 Hour Master Class

    * 4 hour lecture and movement

    * 1 Copy Urban Striptease DVD

    * Urban Striptease Training Manual

    * Choreography Notes

    here a short youtube clip of the video: http://youtu.be/TsGoCs9p1WE

    Someone asked me about it.  I don't see a whole lot of anything and these "certification" classes crack me up!  Is it really anything different than Flirty Girl or Carmen Electra?

    Chemmie – It looks likes it doesn't it? I don't see a point in getting a cert in it. I think anyone with a dance background could easily come up with stuff like that on their own. No need to get certified for it. It's super easy to fuse dance styles and come up with a catchy fusion name for the style like "polesque."

    Seriously…. Enough with the "certifications" already!!!!!  As a group ex instructor (a certified one at that :), I am so SICK and tired of all the various certs out there ~ One could easily spend a small fortune just on certifications!!! Mostly, these "certifications" are just regurgitated info. and I for one am tired of paying for them.  So you get use their logo, big deal!

    Sensualscimitar is EXACTLY right ~ Anyone with a dance background could come up with their own program and it would probably be MUCH better than anything else out there!

    I do own the Urban Strip Tease videos and they are "ok" at best ~ Nothing spectacular about them.  I will say that I rather enjoyed the "Booty Call" dvd though!

    @chemgoddess1 ~ Nope, not any different that Carmen Electra or FG in my opinion!

    Some of the BEST teachers/instructors I've ever had were not certified.  I learned pole, chair and lap dance from a stripper (not certified), my dad was my personal trainer (not certified)… and the list goes on.

    Ok ~ I'm done venting now 🙂

    There are a ton of bellydance instruction veers out there too. I learned bellydancing for years before teaching it and continued my education. I took a workshop on teaching bellydance as well. I found that to be enough to teach bellydance. I find these various certs to be moneymaking scams. A pole cert is more legit in that it is a pretty dangerous sport. Anything where you could break your neck, I’d say a certification should be needed.
