I bought a second hand Aradia 45mm Brass pole………….Freakin LOVE it! Opens up a whole new world of pole tricks for me potentially. I have danced on brass before and loved it!
Completely solves my hand slipping problem………
Although……..I did get a callous rip from it last night………My hands will need to adjust to not having to hang on for dear life……. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Now, I just have to buy some brasso……….got clean this baby once in awhile with brass cleaner.

OH…..and I tried something funky with one of my chrome Xpole…..(the old style)

I wet sanded one of the very very lightly with a 800grit wet sandpaper………Made a world of difference in the grip.
It doesn’t look pretty, but it grips now!
I can pole sit on it when it is cold even.

I will try and get a pic of it so I can show ya what it looks like. As I mentioned, it is NOT pretty……but very functional.

You sanded your xpole?! LOL I have problems with gripping mine but had not considered that! What’s it like to spin on? Is the brass amaxing? Maybe ill get a 45mm brass someday… someday!

wooooah be super careful sanding the xpole. it’s chrome plated– so the chrome itself is a thin, thin layer bonded on top of the steel that the pole is actually made of. you could easily sand the chrome off. usually a chrome plate layer is measured in hundredths or thousandths of a MILLIMETER…

i wouldn’t recommend it– you can sand stainless for sure, thats fine… but chrome is dicey!

glad to hear you’re enjoying your brass though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Yes….Exactly. I actually had this conversation with Kimara at Xpole…..
I figured I would call them prior to doing anything. Needed specs….If I screwed it up….had to make sure I could get replacement parts…..lol
But yeah~~For sure……It is an extremely tricky process and not one that I would directly recommend to anyone. I actually had a friend of mine who does body work do it for me………I would definitely have gone waaay to deep and taken the entire chrome plate off.
He removed such a minute amount…..

What I was finding with my chrome poles…..
I think over time and tons of use………..my hands have actually polished the surface of the chrome. I couldn’t stick on them….no matter how warm they were and very few of my clients could stick to the either. You would go to spin….and slide right down, slip right off.
The finish actually had this oxidated look to it………..It was the friend who does body work who suggested that the many hands may have literally polished it to such a state where the finish was gone. Kind of how hand rails get worn down and polished over time…..
As that one pole is rather warped anyway, figured it couldn’t hurt to try it. However, I wasn’t going to trust my touch to be light enough……that is why I had him do it.

And yeah…..I be loving the brass………….Especially as it is a 45……

Thanks Amy for the input……….I was so excited about all of this I didn’t really realize my post was kind of a recommendation…..

Can’t have that on my head…..Me opting to take a huge risk is one thing…..I wouldn’t want anyone else going off my feedback~~
So…HUGE thanks and hugs for pointing that out~~~~
