Wanted: COMFORTABLE pole shorts!
Posted by poleisnewtome on October 19, 2014 at 10:09 pmHi, I am new to pole, and honestly, the one thing that is standing in my way of improvement is my pants! I can’t seem to find a pair of shorts that don’t give me a wedgie–back, but especially front! Not only is this unsightly, but it’s uncomfortable! I can’t feel confident learning moves when my pants are attacking my crotch.
At this point in my endeavor, comfort is my main requirement. I don’t care if the shorts are sexy or not. I just want them to cover the bits while staying put. I have tried shorts with a gusset, but these, too, don’t entirely solve the problem, as the gusset is too narrow to make much difference.
Some more info: I am thin: about 5’5 and 110 lbs. I hate thongs (they too give me a front wedgie (seriously, what goes on??), and regular underwear shows pantylines, so I prefer to not wear underwear under my pole shorts. Is this bad?
Does anyone have any recommendations for non-crotch-stabbing pole shorts? Thanks!
Sincerely,
Wedgie Woes

Also, I wanted to add that I’ve looked at sites that sell professional dancewear and gymnastics-wear, and thought that maybe wearing a leotard with cheer shorts over it would be an option? This wouldn’t be that attractive but maybe it would work?

I really like Pole Fit shorts from Bad Kitty. I wear the brazil shorts. but they are skimpy. they are meant to go up your butt a little bit. they hug your buns. they are very flattering. the crotch is wide. no crotch problems at all and I am prone to my crotch not being covered when I wear regular underwear or bikinis. I dont feel like these shorts give me a wedgie even though the cup my butt. not irritating at all. I understand front wedgie completely and I do not get them with pole fit shorts. they have other styles of pole fit shorts that offer more coverage if you like. all their shorts have wide crotch. seriously you can do splits on the pole and everything. you dont have to wear underwear under them. I do because I just feel self conscious with out underwear but they are not necessary. I have actually worn them without underwear and there were no problems whatsoever

you dont want to wear a leotard if you are gonna be inverting or doing leg hangs because you will need your skin on your sides to stick to the pole.

I will also had that I have a huge bubble butt 🙂

Thanks, Phonenix Hunter! I am looking at the Bad Kitty website right now and I’m liking the foldover shorts and the Go Go Polefit shorts. Good point about the leotard. I didn’t think of that.

i havent tried the fold over shorts but I have a couple of the gogo shorts and they have good crotch coverage. the gogo shorts are very low on me though. they may fit you better since you are 110. I am a very booty licious 138 and have never been able to wear any low cut jeans, etc. so if you can wear low cut shorts, jeans they may work well for you. even with the tiny gogo shorts I dont get wedgies either in the front or back.

extra cheapy tip! : my new favourite pole shorts are in fact fitted guys boxers!! they are so comfortable; lovely soft fabric so fit like a second skin; and great crotch coverage!! i have hot pink ones, bright blue ones, spotty ones; tiger stripes… there’s so many available! they dont have to be expensive either i go to my local market and get them really cheap, cos i find proper pole clothes are always so expensive… =)

Lol quite a few vids here of me poling in my husband’s black M&S cotton trunks – rolled down at waist they’re SO comfy.

I just found these and they are awesome: http://miabrazilia.com/shop/cinch-shorts/ They are really well made, really soft, cup my butt cheeks nicely, and actually stay there. I also like the Zweet Sport Jaco shorts: http://www.zweetsport.com/jaco-shorts/?sort=featured

I appreciate everyone’s responses. I’m going to take all the advice I got here in my quest to find the perfect shorts. 🙂

I have a pair of Mika shorts and they are by far the most comfortable pair I own. I am ordering at least two more and a couple of their tops. This is the brand that most of the girls at the studio I went to wore. One of the girls does yoga and turned us onto this brand. Now Mika caters to the pole community as well as the yoga community. Here is a link to the pair I have but I’ve heard great things about all of their shorts.

I like mika as well… and public myth’s Thai bootie shorts. Thanks Phoenix Hunter for mentioning bad kitty! When I saw that Natasha Wang is one of their ambassadors, I couldn’t resist and bought a matching top and bottom! Can’t wait for them to arrive!

yay! I hope you like them as much as I do! they really are my go-to shorts.

Mika are very comfortable too. I just dont find the cut of the mika shorts to be flattering. Oddly the brazil shorts which are kind of skimpy are more flattering than the mika shorts which offer more coverage. I feel the fuller cut shorts just make me look even bigger. not what I want at all. I wear Bad kitty about 99% of the time because their clothes just move better and give me enough skin exposure to grip with.

I agree with Phoenix on the Mika shorts. I tried every style and didn’t think any of them were flattering on me.
