    Hi everyone,

So, ,my question to all of you is this:  how do you feel when watching your videos of yourselves?  Did you have to get used to it or was it always just easy to do?

The reason I ask is simply this – I made a video of myself last night.  Purely just to find out where to mount the video camera for the future.  I kind of just put it in different places and did a spin and a climb to see if all of me fitted in.  "all of me" being the appropriate wording.

The problem came when going over the recording. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif

I have had a lot of weight issues recently.  After being diagnosed with RA I was put on a LOT of medication and the biggest side effect is weight gain – serious weight gain.  After I started pole dancing I lost 10kgs (woo hoo) but looking at the video just made me realise how unhappy I still am with the weight I am at.

Before the video I was feeling good about the weight that I had lost, the way my clothes were now a little too big now and the toning that I have seen happening.  Now I just feel downright depressed again!  I looked terrible and I would NEVER post a video let alone anyone see the video.

All the video's you ladies post on here are so great.  You all look great and do wonderful routines/moves etc.  I guess I will just have to lose some more weight so I too can start posting some of my practices as there is a lot I need advice on.

Kudos to all your ladies for having the self confidence to post your videos so that all of us can be inspired!

at first  i didnt like the way i looked in anything i recorded lol. when i started. Not just bc of weight just bc… i wasnt very fluid. Or flexy. i was just…there lol… Over time i became stronger, an just looked fit (not neccesarily loosing weight) just getting more toned from the pole an flexible with it an just more connected with the pole. NOW… ill record… i can watch it all night an smile an be proud… the next day maybe watch it once with a smile. after that. i get so sick of watching my self its like…. EH! NEW VIDEO!!! lmao….an i also get sick of the song too if i ever hear it come on again hahahaa.  but no matter how much u HATE your videos. especially if ur starting out. ALWAYS keep them. i only kept ONE froma  long time ago. an i WISH i kept the rest they are so fun to look back at as u get better =)

I enjoy watching my videos.  Yes, I have gotten in much better shape since poling, and you will too.  I like to look at my first videos when I had a little extra weight.  It makes me smile to think, "wow, I thought I was good THEN".  Be proud of your accommplishments and try to recored at least a video a month.  In a year you will look back at where you are today and will be amazed at how far you come, and how much more toned the body is!  🙂

I use to feel really self conscious when I first started making videos. Sometimes I still do. I'm tryign moves that need stomach showing and I HATE showing my stomach. But I'm really trying to focus on appreciating what my body can do rather then how it looks. I've struggled with my weight over the years so i can understand the feeling of not being happy where you are at even when you have come some way. The biggest reason I started videoing myself is that i had no idea if I was getting better or not. I find it really motivating to look back at when I  first started and compare videos.

Also never worry about being judged on this site. Thats one this I have learned is that the women and men on this site are wonderfully supportive.

Thats one thing I still havent gotten used to doing.  Im uncomfortable not only seeing myself on camera but hearing my voice.  I joke and tell people that why I went to school to work behind the camera.

When I put a video in to be edited, I see it more as a project so Im not really paying attention to what im doing.

i can always always always find something horrible, wrong, blaaah with every video i've ever posted. most of the time i have to sort of force myself to post a video because i dont like it. often, the first 10 viewings are the absolute worst. it's only after i've given it some time, that i start to like what i did more.

nothing you post will ever be perfect, or as good as you want it to be. i think that videos should be posted to show yourself the progress you've made over time– some of my older ones are absolutely hilariously awful, but i keep them up. and you never know who you could be encouraging by putting it up. you really never know.

Thanks for all the wonderful replies. I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and just record one and post it!
Does anyone have any suggestions on good editing software that is free and VERY easy to use. I am by no means a computer boff.

Keep recording yourself..In every video you will find a little bit of greatness there that you would not have know. Pole isn't about how you look…It's about how you express. Everyone is beautiful when they are able to express a feeling or tell a story with their movement.  You will "learn" faster if you video your self too. Love the skin you are in and it will love you back. Your body works so hard for you, cherish and nurture it. Weight, shape, skin texture, and age is always changing….but our essence is what makes us beautiful.

If you use windows there’s usually some thing called Windows movie maker already installed in the computer. Look for it in the start up menu. Its not to hard and if you upload a small clip and play around for a while you’ll get the hang of it! Good luck!
