I’m not sure what my point here is, but I’m really frustrated! I don’t have a pole yet so I’ve commited myself to preparing for pole work by increasing my flexibility and increasing my strength and stamina. However, the strength training seems to seriously decrease my flexibility! After proper warm-ups and stretching all week and making some decent progress in my flexibility, I did leg day at the gym this morning and I feel like I’m back to square one!! So not fair! GRR!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif

i would check out some of the stretching threads in the forum. there’s a style of stretching called resistance stretching that can increase your strength and flexibility at the same time.

Your right! I guess I just don’t feel like I’m really acccomplishing much and achieving my potential strength unless I feel the pain from a high weight/low rep or low weight/high rep go to total failure technique. Maybe I’m addicted to DOMS https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I find that if you do both, so if you warm up, strength train, do some cardio, and then stretch, it works out relatively well. I usually end up sore the next day, if I really push it, but I’ve never actually made myself too sore to function…well, I used to once or twice, but I don’t want to repeat that again!
You can really tighten the muscles if you just to strength training, though, and I find if I stretch right after, everything feels much better and happier, and a lot less sore! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif
