What are your favorite shoulder stretches?
Posted by Lucca Valentine on October 16, 2014 at 10:56 amSo I am having a lot of flexibility issues in my shoulders (well…always have). What are your favorite shoulder stretches? Mostly for behind the head, chest-type shoulder openers aren’t as rough >_

I love Veena’s “up and over” stretch. Using a resistance band you can easily adjust the intensity and it feels so good!

I like to lay over my foam roller, moving it up and down my spine.
Also, I’ve got a few new upper back and shoulder stretching on the way!

I should add, I’m not rolling it the whole time, I roll first then, just laying over it and relaxing into the stretch it gives. π

I agree with dustbunny, .the up and over stretch is really awesome. I do it regularly. Veena so glad you’re coming up with more shoulder exercises. maybe you’ll do a 20 minute conditioning video just for shoulders…hint..hint. i like the stretching routines because they make me work on a particular body part for at least 20 minutes.

Yes I would love a stretch routine especially for shoulders ! I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately, I find as I get stronger I am getting much more visibly muscly in my arms and shoulders which is great, but I can feel my flexibilty suffering and my ROM is awful…. aaarrgghh! Plus I have relatively only just started on my strength journey so I still have a loooong way to go; I still want to be much stronger than I am now!! but I think I need to dedicate serious time to trying in increase my flex focussing on shoulders, not just the usual splits and back…

Something I always do whenever I do anything, be it, weight training or heavy poling is to stretch out between strength work. For example if I’m doing strength training for shoulders I immediately follow the strength move with a stretch for that same muscle group. I find it’s most important for shoulders and legs. π
