I love this thread!  I started pole only a year ago and love it!

I am an IT Systems Administrator for a company of 125 people, in 4 offices. Three are in southern California, one in Maryland. I do computer desktop and server support for Microsoft Windows XP, 7, Server 2003 and 2008. I'm learning more networking and I'm learning Red Hat/Unix/Linux.

In November 2011 I finished my BS in Information Technology. I'm about ready to head back to school to get a MS in Library Science.

My background is mechanical engineering designer….used to work as a Designer designing government defense equipment (tech stuffs that were used in war/battlefield).  Now, I work in a utility company doing power procurement (I…literally…buy power…=P ) Recently we're buying TONS of green power…oh man…work is up to my eye balls and I haven't touch my pole at home in a MONTH!!!

As much as i love my job…I'm depressed that work is getting in the way of my sports…and made me neglecting my sweet pole!!! =(

EEk…..I feel a bit awkward – some very sexy, sophisticated, and intelligent people frequent this home for love of pole.  I'm both awed and inspired.  Way to go all!

So, I'm blue collar all the way.  I've been welding since I was 17, so 11 years now, and started hanging and finishing drywall within the last year to earn extra money.  I weld full time in a fabrication shop making equipment and pipe towers for the seed industry.  My hubby and I both dry wall in the evenings and on weekends when we can. Luckilly, since we do it together we don't see each other any less =-)

Recently, due to over work and self inflicted physical abuse (I'm a slight workaholic) I've been taken off work completely and told to be lazy – I am going CRAZY with boredom.

However, I have decided to try to be mentally productive, and am in the process of researching various skills and information to start my own online business.  When 3 different docs tell you to find a different career or you're going to cause irreversible damage, you listen…..grudgingly.  I love physical labor, and I'm really, really good at it – it just clicks.  On the upside, this is something I've always wanted to do, so what better time than now? I've obviously got time to kill so may as well do some damage.  }=-)

Dude, welding is awesome! That is not easy to do and a good welder is like a metal surgeon. That’s about as skilled a trade as blue collar gets. Way cool!

I was in broadcasting as a writer, producer and on air talent – now all I do is this – just teach pole 🙂

Although – it's been time to get a real job for awhile now so I'm looking!

This is a great thread! It is great seeing the positions others hold. I graduated with a Bachelor of arts in Sociology in  and was lucky enough to land a job in my desired field by 22  in the law enforcement field as a police officer. I recently went back to school to obtain my Masters degree in Sociology.

I am still a student and unable to work. Last year I met the guy of my dreams while being on an exchange program in California. We fell in love and I decided to move to Canada. (I'm originally from the Netherlands and lived in Amsterdam before)

Since the visa thing is not that easy, I am on a tourist visa here and will keep that status until I'm finally eligible to apply for a different visa.

I am still finishing my bachelors degree with my school in the Netherlands, media & entertainment management. Which I'll hopefully get in November. But last week I started a course in wedding planning.

Needless to say; poling is what get's me through the boring days. And believe me, there are so many. Just started again after a break of 3 months (started poling last November) hope I will get back in to shape very fast!! And of course, my 5 month old cute little puppy keeps me busy during the days as well.

I am a part time student and work for a children's right organization. Plus, I studied a design degree for a couple of years, I love sewing and plan on starting a craft and clothing sort of business with my best friend.

Apart from that, I've always loved dancing and would have been a dancer if I had believed more in myself, so now I dance every day I have the chance, I adore poling and owe all the knowledge I have on the topic to Studio Veena!

I am 24 years old,  I live in Mexico (where I'm from) with my amazing boyfriend and my three rescue dogs which keep life busy, interesting and beautiful every day.

First let me say how jealous I am of so many of you! More than that, though, I am utterly inspired!

I have been a professional freelance photographer for the past 3 years. I am also a caregiver. My dad had a massive stroke over a year ago and lost his home while he was in the hospital (which happened to be my home at the time as well). It was my duty to make sure he didn't end up in a nursing home. This gave me a different perspective on life and made me realize my stength. It also introduced me to the health care field, which I never would have thought I'd be interested in. A little over a year ago I was homeless, but I struggled to my feet and my dad is much better now and lives with me in a good home. I now have my CNA certification and am going towards a nursing degree. I am truly fascinated by the human body and I hope to get into med school one day, even if I am 35 before I will ever have Dr. in front of my name! Knowing that so many of you are in the medical field gives me so much motivation! I am a an ameteur poler, and at 23 I already feel like my life is running away from me! I sometime's question if I should dedicate the time for this hobby. It's nice to know that you all can make time for this and still be so successful! This really made my day!

I am a full time student studying Middle Grades Education with a focus in Language Arts. I have about two semesters left to get my licensure and I'm SO ready to be out of the classroom and teaching in my own. I also have worked at pet resorts for many years, right now only when I have time, and hope to own my own Pet Resort/Rescue Facility someday. I would also love to dabble in wildlife rehabilitation in some shape at some point.

what a cool crowd! I'm a mom of 2 and active duty military.  Find that Pole gives me a great balance between the uptight crap related to wearing a uniform & being saluted all day.  I started doing environmental response, and now work personnel management; I'm typically the one calling up troops to respond to emergencies (like hurricanes).  I share with a very limited group of my co-workers.  I know a few other military gals who pole, none in my own service.

I think it's hysterical that after 16 years in the military I'm in the best shape ever from Pole Dancing!! LoL!  🙂
