I wish all the nasty people calling us ''wanna be stripper'' could read this, we are so awesomehttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

For the last 4 years i have work part time for a business where i do a bunch of things from warehouse, to assembling electronic board (tiny pieces handle with twizer) The rest of the time i'm at home with my boys (5 and 8)

In the last year i also start my ''little business'' Tigg's Collection and hand painted pole clothes. I plan on going back to school in fall to learn accounting and help me. And in the case it don't work i will be able to get a real job.

Hey everyone! I am brand new to this site so I figured I would start contributing!

I am a full time university student studying for my Bachelor of Education as well as a live-out nanny (full time for now in the summer) for two beautiful 19-month-old twins! I love them to bits and their family really thinks my dancing is pretty cool! I hope one day to work at my studio for a part-time job until I start teaching!

It's so much fun reading what everyone does!

I'm a doctor, and haven't really told any of my coworkers that I pole. I wouldn't want my patients to find out. I'm already the youngest female doctor at work, and if they found out, I'd hate to think about the awkward conversations that would follow. I already have a lot of patients trying to call me "sweetheart" and "honey."

Wow, what a fun subject! I, like so many of you, have enjoyed reading the responses.

I have a job in avionics as a systems engineer. I hold a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Now I am trying to get a job in electronic medical records. Wish me luck!

Reading all these posts makes me think of the demographic of my studio…mostly mid/late 20’s & up….professional, educated, middle class ladies. A lot of Moms and even a few grandmas….so much for the stigma that all pole dancers are dumb, trashy wannabe strippers or young girls wanting attention in bars…..

Proud to be part of such a strong, educated, supportive community…..

    IM PROUD TO POLE!

@Kurikat: I do not talk about pole in my day job. I work at a private school in a very conservative community, and I fear the parents would freak out. I tell them that I am a group exercise instructor and teach cardio and strength dance classes. 1 teacher knows that I bellydance and only my coteacher knows about pole. I trusted her after years of working with her. She also approached me about my bruises.

New thread topic: what do you say when asked about your bruises? (I giggled and gave my midwife a business card)

I am a full time mum/ carer for my disabled daughter/ foster carer. I also work as a Social Worker with children and young people experiencing domestic abuse.
I love to tell people about pole to try to dispell the myth that it is seedy 🙂

Fun and interresting thread! I'm a  engineering tech, project manager for commercial construction.

Islandgirl001, I totally understand where you're coming! I am the only female in my company and I hire sub-contractors for trade work and have yet to see another woman.

high school English teacher. Did BA in English and Modern History, then  PGCE. Worked in bar and as a pharmacy assistant to fund studies. Technically i'm registered on an MEd, but thinking of dropping out – won't advance my career, costs a lot of money and takes a lot of time. Don't feel like i have enough time as it is – especially to pole and do other fitness training and travel!  we'll see… lol! most of the staff in school know about pole, but kids don't. every now and then there's a whisper but because they see me as so prim, proper and straightlaced they laugh it off before i have to say a thing!

I work at a credit union. I scan papers hehe. Outside of the 8 to 5 I am a hoop dancer/instructor/performer, musician, minister, and crafter. I really am working to kick the 8-5, but I do like the security of full time benefits. I just got a promotion and its my 5 year anniversary here in 2 days. I have been applying for jobs in parks and recreation, but so far, have not found a good fit for me (or they didn't think so :() Thankful that the bills are being paid, just wish I had more time to do what I love. Maybe one day I'll be good enough to be a pole and yoga instructor as well. It would be really cool to learn to teach Barre, Zumba, and Jazzercise lol. In the long run, I want to own a studio with my husband for movement and music and arts of all forms. Rental event space when we aren't teaching ourselves. Just got a very small initial investment to get us started. Going to a business conference to learn more about business side of performance, learning about taxes and what not. Good luck to us all looking to break out!
