I have a BA in journalism with emphasis in PR. I worked for 11 years in PR/Marketing before I got laid off. I liked it for the most part but it was VERY stressful and demanding, so now I am thinking about going back to school and completely changing careers. I have always been interested in nursing (that was my second choice after Journalism), so I'm looking into that at the moment.

Where I worked it was a VERY open and casual atmosphere and we cussed alot at work, even the owner/CEO of the company cussed! It was a pretty laid back place but I wasn't treated too well there. so I was unhappy…On to my point, since it was so laid back there most everyone there knew about my poling for fitness but I didn't exactly talk about it right away with them, I was poling a few months before it came up. But when it did start going around my office, no one really cared because in Los Angeles pole fitness and burlesque classes are all the rage…lol But if I worked for a more conservative job say the school district, city, government or social services or someplace like that I doubt I would be so willing to share, it totally depends on the environment.

I am a graphic designer. Most recently I took a job as a Flash Developer, creating e-learning/training modules for large companies. I'm also a pole dance instructor and….

soon to be a pole dance studio owner!! yorayyy!

I always wondered what all the polers of the world did!

The diversity here is fascinating.  It's proof positive that our careers don't necessarily define the spectrum of our talents.  We can be simultaneously intellectual, artistic, athletic, entrepreneurial, logical, creative… capable of so much!

I'm a professional dancer/aerialist that just completed a 4 year run in Off-Broadways, "Fuerza Bruta: Look Up".  I'm also a licensed massage therapist, certified Pilates instructor & writer.

wowza all you guys are so brainy and inspirational!! I'm just a product photographer / graphic designer…. I aspire to be a production designer on sets for films but I've not figured how exactly I'm going to do that yet, lack a little self confidence 🙂 I don't get how some of you have jobs on the side as well as being pole teachers lol you're all superwomen!!

I am a ARNP (advanced registered nurse practitioner) and specializes in Cardiology. I also own my own ARNP company that sub contract work from different physicians in the area.

I also invest in real estate where I  own and rent  homes in my county.

I thought about asking  this very question last week.  Thanks

I am a full time student currently out for the summer.  I am one year away from acheiving my bachelors in social counseling.  I plan to work with juveniles and youth of all kinds.  I live in a city that offers great opportunities in this field.

I also work two jobs.  I work at a drive-thru Daiquiri shop and do really well there with tips and shift pay.  I use to work in a bar and decided the life style is not for me.   My second job is working for a embroidery company. I run embroidery machines that sew logos and/or names onto clothing, hats, bags, etc.   I just started back part time and have been working there on and off since 2007.  They have their busy seasons especially in the summer time.  I guess I can consider myself a seasonal worker there.  Its hard work sometimes, but  rewarding because I can get in a zone and work at my pace all day long.  Its a happy medium working and talking to customers at the daiquiri shops and then keeping to myself at the embroidery company.

For the past 13 years, I have been in the logistics field. I manage a group of 80 people (mostly male) in a very large outbound shipping operation. Good money but very long hours. I also have worked as a makeup artist.

I'm a freelance graphic designer specializing in book covers.  I have lots of time to pole since I quit my 'regular' job of four years as an Operating Room secretary.  I start school to become an Massage Therapist this fall, and I can't wait!

I'm going to start going back to University in September, and currently I work at Starbucks. It's actually a pretty good job- mostly due to the people I work with! As always, there's the occasional drama-fest, and they're all a lot younger than I am (by about 5 years or so!) but, that's okay!

One day… I want to be a writer. Seriously.

Oooh I'm currently studying medicine….few more months to adding a 'Doctor' title to my bachelor of science one 😀 !!!

Medicine doesn't leave much free time for pole-ing and it won't get any better…waiting to earn enough to get a pole to fix up at home.

    Happy pole-ing everyone xxx

I’m a high school English teacher with a Master’s in Ed. Administration. I have two side businesses: 1). I make cranial prosthesis for cancer patients or people with alopecia and lace wigs for the everyday woman, and 2). I am a wedding officiant. I find it funny that I marry couples, especially since I have never been married!
