First of all, I’ve started my pole dance course about a month ago and before that I was working on my own pole which is chrome,at home; trying to learn by myself so all together about 2 months that I’ve been pole dancing (learning).
We have brass pole in the studio which feels super easy to learn and make the moves that are hard to do on chrome 🙁 I know the climate is important and everything… I live in Finland, even though I don’t feel cold plus I love cold a lot (-4 or 5’s are warm for me 😀 ) but of course I know for the pole; it isn’t working at all. My house is not warm enough for it and I have to warm myself up with the pole together at least an hour so I can work properly as wish and make the moves without looking like a monkey ! Well, I know the studio is much warmer which helps but I can feel the difference between chrome and brass in terms of getting a grip. I feel safer on brass.
Does anyone have any idea, suggestion about what I should do ? I bought mighty grip for hands + latex tights and yes they help like crazy but I feel like cheating 🙂 Please some advice ‘coz I love my chrome (it is a gift from my husband which makes it more special) and I wanna be able to be good on it too.

Speaking form experience, Brass is good if you are newer to pole and you need more grip, Chrome is more slippery, but it’s what the pole shows usually use. I have a chrome and it needs a good amount of tac for me to stick to it depending on the weather and such. But the place where I practice has brass and I hardly have issues with it unless it’s a really hot day. However once your hands build strength the chrome won’t seem so slippery.

Hi Gizy! I’m super new to pole (only a couple of weeks). I live in Canada, so I know COLD! Today was about -6 and yes, it felt warm;) As far as poles, I just bought a chrome Xpole. I have noticed on our much colder days, I need to warm up more, as well as allow the room and pole to warm up. Also, I tried a trick I learned from some of the ladies on here, shave gel. Just a bit goes a long way. Seems to help when the metal just won’t heat up 🙂

I also live in Canada but I live in an extremely cold climate. With my chrome pole the tricks that I use are – a space heater- turn it on a little big before I dance, both the room and pole have had sometime to heat up and it’s not freezing cold when I warm up. I stay clothed during my warm up so that I’m more warm when I’m ready to pole. For me as I became stronger the chrome became my preference, I now greatly dislike the brass in my studio. If you are going to use the shaving cream, my best tips are to use men’s shaving cream and the most standard one you can find. You don’t want one with moisturizers and aloe, like most female shaving cream. Good Luck And happy poling!

I live in an even colder part of Canada lol – it is -27 here today, but is way better than the -43 it was yesterday. I just bought a heating blanket that I wrap around my pole. I hate dancing in a hot room, which is why I don’t use a space heater. You can get electric heated blanket at places like walmart 🙂

Or use your hair dryer! Works great for me (another freezing Canadian).

🙂 Hi guys ! Thank you so much for your helpful answers. Luckily this winter is going pretty warm in nowadays, like between -2 to -13 depending on a day. It might sound funny saying warm for -13 but when you see -20,25’s, it becomes ok in fact -2 feels warm 🙂 you guys know what I mean LOL !
I become happier to own a chrome pole actually because as I realize when I really get disciplined enough to make my hard moves(for me at least) on my pole, after achieving those moves; they feel like breeze in the studio where I learn them in first place and struggle ! 🙂 So yeah, chrome is great to build up the strength, even though it’s a pain to get it warm but more exercise for us chrome owners which is good 😀
